"Olives are just low carb. If you were using them IN PLACE OF a higher carb food, then the numbers would go down. But having some with your usual food doesn't attribute specialness to them. I list them as one of my "can eat" foods! YUM."

Olives

Does anyone know if olives directly contribute to the lowering of your sugar numbers? I've been having some with either soup, salad, or sandwich lateley & have been noticing that about 2 hours later, my numbers are really low. 62, 68, 74. I'm Type 2 on 500mg of Metformin/day & was under the impression that it wouldn't allow my numbers to get that low. I'm just wondering if it's the olives or time for me to stop using Metformin as a crutch & get off of it.

"Kelly: If you can't give them here, donate them to your DR's office or clinic or endo's office. There are always patients of theirs that need to get started right away and don't have the moola to do it. I was like that later…"

Upper Westchester is beautiful! I grew up in Crestwood (Yonkers) and then as an adult lived in Scarsdale. I moved to Sweden for a year (my husband is Swedish) and then we moved back to the States and purchased a car in NY. A month later we drove cross country to Redmond (2002) and just moved to Lynnwood 1.5 years ago. My husband commutes to downtown Seattle. I love it here although, I admit, I prefer Redmond but, house prices we were looking were CRAZY!! But you know that. :) Are you part of the diabetes meetup group for Seattle?

Congratulations on hitting an A1c of 5.3. I too am a New Yorker (Yonkers/Scarsdale) living in the Seattle area (Redmond/Lynnwood).

Yep, that was Skagit Valley. Since we live fairly close, we usually stop by the fields during off times so we don't have to fight the crowds. By the way, love the Darth Hellot Kitty:)
