Random Hi Bld Sgrs Not Responding To Insulin

Posted on February 9, 2011 at 11:55pm 5 Comments

Hi All,

For the last year I have been having these ridiculous random high bld sgrs. There's no pattern and no reason for them (as far as food or illness...). I have not been able to find the kind of help that I need. I have a GREAT Endo but still... Really no answer or way to avoid this from continuing.

My background: I am 41 yrs. old. Have had Type I Juvenille for about 30 yrs. 10 yrs on pump. And...10 yrs ago had a heart attack that led to an angioplasty w/ 2 stents placed in my… Continue

I've never seen the books by Dr. B, but I was wondering if it would even be applicable for a vegetarian? Very curious about the books since there's so much talk about them on this web site.
Thank you!

Hey,
I think exercising has something to do with the random highs too. Ive been exercising regularly for years but lately it's been more taxing on my body. I was also talking to another new doctor and asked her about it. She looked at my diet. (yes i count carbs for insulin) I've been eating four big meals a day and no carb snacks. She thinks that since i've been eating so much but not eating carbed snacks, that my body is expecting carbs and since i'm not giving it any my liver is releasing the glucose. Since then i've been trying to have small 15 carb snacks between meals and so far i havent had any random raises, knock on wood (its only been about a week :X) hhah

Yeah, the Symlin user group forum here is quite interesting to see what all people have and are experiencing... From what I'm reading... There are several people who had tried Symlin in the past that it didn't work for and now they gave it a second try years later and it's working for them... It may be worth revisiting... or at least reading some of the info people are posting about it today. :) Best of luck!!!

Hey Kelly! I wanted to find out if your doctor has spoken to you about Symlin to help balance your highs... I just went to the endo and he was concerned about my weight gain too so he is putting me on Symlin to help with that... There is a Symlin user group on here that you may be interested in to find out more... :) Just thought I would share my new info... Let me know what you think. :)
