Why do your doctors discourage you from using the pump? Most people experience tighter control of their blood sugars after going on it. I myself have as well. I don't have to clean it, nor calibrate it- calibration is for the CGM, which I just went on the Dexcom Seven Plus, and it's only every 12 hours but since I double check when it says I'm higher or lower than my max/min, I do it more than that. I'm just used to testing all the time so it's hard to break that habit.
As for exercise, I do notice that I get low pretty easily when I get some activity in- it kind of makes me scared to do more than walk my dog! I used to get pretty major lows the first few times, and I also love having the CGM on me when I waitress because I used to experience the shakes sometimes when I worked. I never got sick though if I started out high- but I think everyone is different!

Hi Kelly, happy belated birthday. Wanted to let you know that I'm loving the Omnipod. Gives me a ton more freedom than when I was injecting! Let me know if you have any questions about it- still thinking about pumping?

yes, I have had lows overnight- the second time I drank I woke up with a 54 when I just checked a couple hours before and was safe with a 160. It is scary!
I knew Nicole first- we met on a mutual friend's boat, and I met Alyssa through Nicole. That was 3 years ago I think.

I don't know anyone with Diabetes here in Mpls so it kind of feels like I'm on my own. However, my friends are really understanding and I love Tu Diabetes- I'm glad you were able to find it. It is really helpful.

I am really excited to get on the pump- I know you've had Diabetes for a long time, but I was forced to Type 1 in January after having my pancreas removed, and it is taking me a lot longer to adjust than I thought. My energy levels are back up, and my sadness over it, but changing my eating habits are hard, especially when with shots, I can't eat for a couple hours after since I could stack. I was such a snacker and now I have to count carbs?? Oh the horror. I will let you know how my training goes and my experience- I start next Thursday! Which pumps are you thinking of? How have you dealt with Diabetes- has it always kind of been second nature?

I would love if you sent the research my way! I like to stay informed.

You came up the other day with Alyssa and Nicole- I was telling them how alcohol affects Diabetes, how it may seem that we are drunk but we just get low and act like it- they thought that explained a lot! :)
