This is similiar to what Dave suggested. I have the Minimed and when I want to change a set, I recycle the remaining 10-15 or whatever units by taking a new resevoir, removing the blue top piece and the plunger, putting those 2 pieces on the remai...

I have never seen these. Apparently you have one? Does it get in your way at all? Does it automatically give more tubing when you need it? Or do you need to remember to release it when you need more tubing length? I will need to dig into this more...

Buy a tubeguard. I use it all the time. Some things are worth the extra research :)

IT's easy enough to simply "tie" the tubing into a gentle knot or two. I do that when wearing shorts if I find that the tubing hangs down below the shorts. IMO, it's best to keep things simple. You don't need a contraption to shorten the tubing--i...

I dont know why the insulin pump companies have not thought of this or don't think it is necessary to do this but wouldn't it make sense if you could adjust the amount of tubing with a little pulley type thing. I agree that the tubing is necessary...

You should ask your doctor to change the prescription. Mine used to be to test 4-6 times a day but I was testing more often, so she changed it to 8-10 times a day. The money does make it tough. I feel like I'm on the phone WAY too much with my insurance company. My favorite moment was about a year ago (2 years post diagnosis) after taking a health survey for the insurance company someone called me up and said, "Some of your answers are leading us to believe you have diabetes, is that possible?" Well...yeah! I only argue with you every month about it! Joslin is awesome. I go there too. My A1C is slowly coming down - 6.6 last time and I'm going again in a couple weeks. Good to hear from you too! Keep up the good work!

Yeah I had the extreme thirst, bathroom trips, leg cramps all that stuff too. BIMDC - right down the street from my old neighborhood! How're you doing now?

How'd you find out? I was DKA, spent 4 days in the ICU and another week in the hospital after that. I lived in the Boston area at the time and was busy with graduate school. The doctors say I "ran out" of insulin in late January and I was diagnosed in late April. My A1C was 16.8! Luckily I was at my parents house on vacation from my graduate work so they took care of me. Sadly, I only went back down to Boston (where I attended school) to pack up my apartment and wrap up school. I visit friends there often, but miss it horribly.

Welcome! Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I'm guessing you were a "late bloomer" like me. I was 23 when I was diagnosed almost 3 years ago. This is a great place for support and information!

Hello There Kevin: :)

Welcome to TuDiabetes. Good to see you. Sorry that you were dxd.(Wow, that wasn't long ago)but hopefully you will learn and adapt to Diabetes sooner than later.

I also use Lantus and Humalog and if I wanted a pump it would be the Omnipod or possibly the Ping after it's been in circulation for a while.

If you have questions(and you will :D ) feel free to ask them. There is also much Good info to read up on and many Groups to join and Good Friends to meet. Good Luck and Take care.
