Absolutely it makes sence that he can be 250 two hours post and in range four hours after eating. That was initially what happened with my niece. No one told me this was okay, though, and it drove us mad. Novolog lasts for four and a half, used to...

I recently poised this question to our endo team and here is their response. "With his age and weight, we do not normally suggest post-prandial (after meal) checks. As long he is back in range before his next meal/snack you are doing well." I as...

200 two hours post was our initial postprandial target. That is because her DIA (using Novolog) has been tested at 4 1/2 to 5 hours. Even today, if she is 200 two hours post, she will be in range at four or five hours after eating. However, we hav...

My son is now 2 1/2 years old, he was 1 when he was diagnosed. He typically averages about 35-40 carbs per meal and we usually do snacks of about 15-16 carbs. Although his dietitian is always telling me to let his appetite be our guide, within rea...

I highly recommend this book as well! It's a very comprehensive guide. I know some kids with diabetes who work in a mandatory scoop of ice cream before bed. He had an injection and an ice cream, which digested slowly and kept him steady through t...

I agree with the previous posters. I have an 8 yo with D and we have been on Lantus and Humalog since the beginning, counting carbs at all meals and using an insulin: carb ratio. I discourage you taking away his basal insulin (levimir or lantus) b...

Kristian Welcome to your second home. I don't know anything about Levemir, but have couple of things to say: - I was diagnosed at age of one year and a half, now am 28 enjoying my life. All thanks to my parents love and care. You are doing a great...

Hi - Generally 2 hours post prandial (post meal) his bg should be in the range that you and your endo decide is the target range. My DD's day time target is 120 so post meals I like to see her anywhere from 90-150. Any lower and I know she is drop...

Welcome! Your CDE needs a swift kick. I don't know much about children and diabetes, but we do have people on here who do and I am sure they will be along to offer things that have worked for them. But your CDE should be a better listener/partner...

I read your discussion about your son.....I am so sorry and feel so bad that you are having such a hard time...I would not be able to help you, wish I could! I am type 1 diabetic for 16 years.....I don't have any experience with type 1 in children. BUT....There are alot of people on this site that will diffently be able to help you! I wish you luck and hope you can get things smoothed out.
