My Diabetic Child Grew Up

Hi. I am the mother of an adult diabetic who was 15 months of age when he was diagnosed diabetic in 1970. The technoogy in1970 was pretty archaic and didn't tell us much of anything. My son was either in an insulin reaction or had high blood sugars. There didn't seem to be any middle of the road sugars. We tested urine back then....urine blood sugar readings were astleast 4 hours behind venous blood sugar readings! I had to squeeze out his diaper to get enough urine to test his sugars...had to u… Continue

Thank you for the nice comment. I am sorry I didn't see it the first time. I also am new to this website so bare with me as well. How did you deal with taking care of an infant with diabetes. I could not imagine. My son was 16 when he was diagnosed and that is very differnt than an infant or toddler. Keep in touch.

Welcome Larra. Your son, Robert, is great. I appreciate his honesty and his kind words towards my little Olivia. I am also a mother of a diabetic child. This is a great place to reach out to others who share the same worries. I look forward to reading your page.

Hi Mom

Glad you got here and joined, at some point I can come over and help you with yoru profile. :o)

Lots of increadable people here. I have faith that with some of the parents with newly diagnosed kids could use some of your information, stroies and experiences. A little bit differnt since the technoligy catches it allot sooner than when I was diagnosed, but I can see some of the same fears and worries in their comments and expereinces. Plus it is a great place to reach out to other families with diabetic family memebers and you can share feelings and emotions. :o)

I see you found our Diabetic Complications group, and all of welcome you and thank you for joining.

Will talk to you soon.

I wish you well.

Love you

Robert
