And I've learned that INFJs and INFPs are not as alike as it might appear on the surface - good for you! Yes, I have found TuD more 'live and let live and let's enjoy it' than other forums. It's nice! Makes me feel I've found kindred spirits.

Thank you so much for your kind words, and give your son-in-law and good Semper Fi from me!

I do have a really positive attitude about this, what the point of feeling any other way. I really do want to manage this without meds or insulin. My doctor has informed me that it is going to take a drastic lifestyle change, so change away is what I say!

right now though, after two days my body is adjusting pretty good to the reduced dosage, I'm going to up it tomorrow.

again thank you for the support. the TU crowd really is awesome!

Hi Laura...Some medical people refuse to see a connection between the two....hypoglycemia and diabetes....fortunately, that's not the case with my MD. I've connected with others who have also made that transition.

Interesting study BG in the ICU

We had an issue with this when my mother in law was dying of breast cancer. Thankfully we had a very knowledgeable oncologist who new of this risk in terminal cancer patients of trying to to keep there BG in tight normal range.

It will be interesting to see where this study goes. Understand they are not talking about diabetics not being in control.

Medicine side effect problem

SO I am back on Viokase it is a pancreatic enzyme I have taken on and off since childhood to digest proteins and fats a result of Cystic Fibrosis. Anyway sometimes the issue is bowel obstruction it is why I do not take the newer enzyme's. With Viokase I don't get the obstruction but going to the restroom is much more difficult.

What I have noticed is when my digestion slows causing a small amount of constipation my blood sugar is awful. 400-500 and will not come down. I eat tons of fiber and ne… Continue

What would you have done?

Most people assume my high A1C's is because I don't cover or eat to many carbs or something like that. But I want to share what not to do as a diabetic even if it seems like it is for all the right reasons.

For almost 5 years I let my BG run higher because I thought I could not afford the lows. I have an acceptable reason and maybe it is a good one but understand I could have asked for more help and tended to my BG more.

Before my mom died she was dxd with ALS. Me and my daughters along with h… Continue

The Bad and the Good rant and praise.

I have a frustration and a happy thing I wish to share.

Lets start on a high note :) not high bg :)

I have zero plaque in my arteries. At 42 and type 1 for 12 years that's pretty awesome. It is because I have Cystic Fibrosis and don't break down fats and proteins well so they don't give me the sticky stuff. So there is an up side to CF.

Now the bad. Even though my BG is getting a bit better because of the CF I am having trouble putting on any weight. I am only about 3 pounds away from a feedi… Continue
