P.M.A. - Positive Mental Attitude!
I was diagnosed at age 4 with Type 1 diabetes. I spent most of my young years feeling very alone and even embarrassed about having the disease until I attended a wonderful camp - Camp Carolina Trails - for children with diabetes! I've learned about the necessity of having a Positive Mental Attitude (PMA) to live successfully with diabetes and still attend camp every summer, now as a counselor (my picture is from camp this summer)!! I am now the Assistant Director of DiabetesSisters, a nonprofit organization for women with diabetes! Please visit the site - we've got a wealth of great resources for women (sorry guys - no boys allowed this time!)
