Oh! A teenager?! How Id wish! LOL. Im 34 almost 35 years old this October. So nice to hear from you again. When I was first diagnosed (2 years ago) I was on metformin 500 mg twice a day and glimiperide 2 mg once a day. Now with diet and exercise my bg is controlled to a 500 mg metformin once daily (thank God). I did not eradicate carbs (Im a rice eater) but I lessened it and have a exercise regimen daily at least 5 times a week.

Food and cooking is one of the areas I can help you a bit on. I love to cook (and eat) My husband is non diabetic but we keep an eye on his cholesterol since he in not exactly fit, you know. LOL He loves to eat as well. For breakfast you can try omelet by using 1 full egg and 2 egg whites (good for high blood pressure) fill in bell peppers, onions, mushrooms and left over chicken(no skin)/turkey seasoned with pepper. Home made soup is great for lunch and some greens with steamed beets sprinkled with pine nuts, walnuts, and shredded chicken. Grilling steaming is great for dinners. Like chicken breast with rosemary and olive oil or salmon seasoned with pepper and thyme. Its good for you too.

I come from a small family. Just my Mom and an older sister. Then my in-laws and my husband (he is an only child). We do not have children yet only doggies! Im Asian (Filipina) by descent and living in Oklahoma for 6 years now. But we come back to Manila about 3 times a year. How about you? Any children? What do you enjoy doing? Id love to know more about you =)

Hi Laurie. How are you doing today? BG still unpredicatble? Oh yes, the type 2's are a bit minority here but there are some around. We are just not very vocal but we have our own share of concerns that even the type 1's do understand and give their suggestions to. But Im always glad to see a fellow type 2 here to talk with.
That is one concern though really for type 2's. Correcting bg level is a bit challenge especially if you are not on insulin. It takes awhile for metformin to take effect. Had you seen a diebetes nutritionist to figure out how much ideal carb you can take per day? Are you on a certain regimen for physical activity/exercise? You dont seem to be over weight in your photo. So, Im assuming it might be something else.

I read on your profile that you were on a car accident? What happened? I hope everything is fine now. I also had an accident january of last year...My lumbar 4 collapsed on my lumbar 5. I fell down the stairs. For 4 months I wasnt able to walk...but constant therapy and rehab todate enables me to run 2 miles a day and dance for workout.LOL.
Controlling our bg takes awhile but it IS possible. We just have to work on it a bit. Frustrating sometimes too, LOL.
