Hello! How's it going Libia...any questions/suggestions? Take a look at some of the other groups available when you get a chance!

I am part of the Welcome Committee and was just checking in on you to make sure you are aware of all that TuDiabetes has to offer. We would love to hear from you so here is a helpful link where you can read about all the things you can do in the community.

Yes, it was hard to manage diabetes before all the pumps and glucose meters was developed. I remember the first meter that I got...I was 17. The cost of them was around $300 and they were much bigger than they are now. Before meters I checked my urine for sugar. When I went to the dr it would take soooo looong to get the results of my blood sugar. They would take a tube of blood and put it in some sort of machine that went around really fast...and after a while, I got my results. It seems like it was always in the 200's when I was young. I went on the pump when I was pregnant with my daughter. The pump was called the "blue brick". It weighed 3 pounds. Imagine strapping that thing on. It was awful, especially when my belly got bigger. But, it did not take minimed long to reduce the size. So....thanks to the pump, I have done great!

Hi Libia, Glad you joined us. I have had type 1 for 38 years...I thought I knew it all...but this site is so helpful! I saw where you wear a minimed pump. I have worn minimed for 25 years. I was on of the first on the pump. I am lookint at getting the CGMS. Do you have that? I am fighting with my insurance for coverage. I have started takin symlin and it would be a great tool to get me regulated without all the 40 something blood sugars I am experiencing.
