Some Irish Wishes for my Friends

May you see God's light on the path ahead
When the road you walk is dark.
May you always hear,
Even in your hour of sorrow,
The gentle singing of the lark.
When times are hard may hardness
Never turn your heart to stone,
May you always remember
when the shadows fall—
You do not walk alone.

May you live as long as you want,
And never want as long as you live.

May you have warm words on a cold evening,
a full moon on a dark night,
and a smooth road all the way to your door.

Nár lagaí Dia do lámh! --------May God not Weaken Your Hand (More power to you!)

A Type 1 Diabetic’s Perspective of Surgery.

I want to say that I have proof things are getting better. I had so much anxiety regarding my surgery. I read about horror stories of other diabetics in the hospital and in the OR, and I was not feeling the love on the day of my surgery. I had visions of a tug-o-war with the admitting nurse over my insulin pump in the operating room, I had visions of the anesthesiologist removing my pump when I was unconscious… and other things of this nature.

I was scheduled for minor same day surgery, removal… Continue

Resistance is futile

I went to my cardiologist yesterday for a follow up to an appointment, which was a follow up from a mishap last year when I fainted for no apparent reason, and fell and hit my head. I seem to still be terrified at the doctors' offices, even though I have managed to surround myself with some pretty hip characters. My internist is smart (and also very attractive) and a great doctor. Her office is polite, sharp and timely, she has all my scripts, and I have no problems with her staff at all. My end… Continue

Pumping Ireland - Spring 2007

“Sweetie, do you wanna go to Ireland with me”?

“Yea, sure” she replied and looked at me as if to say “in which century”?

Okay how about next week!

The guys working on the project asked me (at a very late stage) if I wanted to work on this particular design, and, oh yea go to Ireland a week from the day to present and do some planning and miscellaneous site work.

Never let them see you smile or sweat at work: I said “okay” but was already doing the end-zone dance of

HI

Hi my name is Joe

I have been T1 a long time (jeez about 30 years now) but I have only been treating myself well since late 2000. I’ve only been talking about my diabetes since 2003 and I started looking at support groups and other stuff this year.

Got all kinds of nick names huh? I done that with Amber and Brittany and now with Amarie, Savannah and Aden! I think it's a thingy that us grown ups can't help but we tend to do it soooooo much more when their our own little babies!

Yes employment is alot better than unemployment and I'm sure Lisa will agree with that! Spend every minute you can with him before he turns into one of those know it all teens! HA!

So your calling him Jimmy now huh? My son-in-law is a James too but they turned his inialls around and his mom, (dad passes) grandmother and his family call him TJ kinda confusing b/c he was introduced as James to me! HA!

Don't worry about being on the computer. I know this last week between getting hit with 9 inches of snow ans all living in the same house as me it gets confusing and I haven't been on that much either!

Poor Lisa! This newest one here dosen't seem to sleep through the night so I bet she's having some fun now ! HUH?

Yep a very hard time of year but soon to get better.Amber went to one Dr today and he told her Aiden was ready to hit the world Now she has to go to the obgyn tomorrow and she said she was going to try and get them to take him a few days early!!

On another note I went for my 6 month eye exam and guess what! Their really GOOD!!! This time last year not so good but now great!! I didn't even have to have my (shutter yes now I have them} glasses changed!! I couldn't help but get tickled at the eye Dr. She was giving me a test without the glasses and told me to look at the letters on the lines and tell her which line I could read so me and my smartassed attitude goes the 1st line is kinda blurry (it was) but I can make them out (like E X and I belive M) she looked at me and told me I was VERY nearsighted.I had to laugh at her and tell her to tell me something I didn't know! HA!

I had been lying to myself about that for a really long time. The Dr would give me glasses and tell me I was nearsited and I would put them up, get that permanite wrinkel between my eyes (like my mom had.always telling myself I would NEVER have but got now) and convince myself that everything far off was suppost to be really blurry! My husband had just about given up on me! He was having to go as far as read the road signs for me. Now though he's turned over 40 and the farsightedness of him is getting really bad so I get to read the phonebook for him! HA!! Life getting a little older I guess!!
