Hey Liz no problem with the late response. Life happens! Do let me know when you come to Thunder Bay and I'll let you know when we are back in Manitoba. It would be great to go for coffee and talk. I was 7 when I was dx and I'm a parent now so I can kind of put the two together in a weird way. :)

So cool. So are you involved in the "Queen" WSO production in Feb? We are really looking forward to that!

Yeah... life with diabetes in the 70 's and 80's certainly was a challenge. Blood tests only came into my life in my early twenties...along with the advent of daily multiple shots. I remember my first severe low when noone in my family even knew what a low was. I guess back then, there was a lot less accurate monitoring..but then I am sure I was over the ideal bg a lot of time. The one thing that I really enjoyed was diabetic camp. It sure felt nice to know that there was at least someone else in this universe that had diabetes as a kid. I felt normal there... I hope your son will be able to sttend one day too.

I also did a little bit of work with kids with diabetes while studying social work at the U of M (in my twenties)....I am sure they have tons more stuff for kids now!

I can only imagine the work and stress that goes along with having a toddler with diabetes. It is well worth the effort though!! I am glad to see you reach out for support...your kid will most certianly benefit from that as well.

My husband and daughter (Natalie) were just at the WSO and loved it!! Natalie's teacher is Zohreh Gervais-- we were connected when we were enrolled at the U or M Suzuki program. While Zohreh was on mat leave for a month or so, Nat took lessons with Rodica Filipoi (whose husband plays the tumpet for the WSO.
Nat will also be participating in the music festival this year (two solo and one duet).

Have you found any parents with Type 1 toddlers yet? I know that my parents could have used a support group....of course back in the dark ages when I was diagnosed there was practically no info, never mind support!! I know there are lots of type 1 hanging around Winnipeg, but I have not seen one on this forum yet.
