Anyone from Portland/Vancouver area have a toddler with type 1?
Our son is 3 1/2 and was diagnosed just after his 1st birthday. We live in Canada but will be visiting my parents near Battle Ground, Washington from June 26-July 18th. Miles doesn't know any kids his age with diabetes, it would be nice to get together with someone around his age if anyone in the area is interested and free during that time! Thanks! LizSee More

Natalie said… - Hi, sorry for the late response as well. My son is so close in age to your son and our time frames are so similar. Rory is turned 3 Nov. 24th and he was diagnosed in 2007 one week before his first birthday. He has been using the pump since Dec. of 2008 and doing very well with it. I think the biggest advantage for him is being able to fine tune the background/basal insulin. He has about 6-7 settings for the day. It has brought his A1C from 9.6 to 7.5. The only scary part has been when the catheter has come out and we didn't notice right away and his blood sugar was up over 600 one night and he had ketones building up. We just covered him by syringe and gave him water and kept checking and replaced the site and he did gradually come down over a few hours. Are you thinking about switching to the pump?
