Thank you so much for bringing MODY to my attention. I just googled it and foudn that i might possibly be what my husband has. I still have more reading to do. however he gets it from him dads side and his dad was not diagnosed until after he was! He got it late in life as well. Maybe this will be an answer for us! I am very excited.
Thank you so much!!!

Hi Louise,
I have heard of LADA (from Manny's story), but I have not heard of the other one the MODY(?) one. Since reading Manny's story I have asked my husband to have his Endo test his pancreas functions along w/other things. I think they are trying to wean him from the insulin. The dr. said that is what is making him gain more weight. Kind of a bad cycle, have to take the insulin to get rid of the sugar, but its making him heavy (I don't think he is fat, personally I have seen bigger people w/out diabetes). If you can give me info on the other type or at least tell me what it is and i will do the research.
Thanx! Nice to meet you!

Back when I was diagnosed there was no way to test your bloodsugar and I did one shot a day, so I am sure my control was awful, but.......it was not as heavy on the mind, if that makes sense. Now with more technology and knowing what your bloodsugar is every two hours, may lead to better control, but it is a heavier burden on the mind and soul, but we do not have an option.
