Making our way towards a cure

Posted on September 11, 2009 at 7:00pm 8 Comments

While down in Florida, I had the amazing opportunity to visit the Diabetes Research Institute in Miami. The private tour ranged from speaking with Gary Kleiman who provided detailed information on medical advancements on a layman's level to being introduced to all the troops (scientists and bio-med engineers) in the trenches. At each stage, more information was shared with Mandy (my girlfriend) and me than I could have dreamed of.

During the visit, my mind was already churning… Continue

What is GBA1c and how is it so accurate? iPhone Diabetes Technology Blog

According to a file called "A1c Scope.doc", GBA1c was first documented and outlined on January 13, 2009 on my MacBook. The file contained research into the most important variables for an A1c test. As a went down the list, I began to strategize how we could address these variables with the information that users… Continue

Here's some more practical advice for staying out of the hospital if you decide to do some partying in college. A lot of people keep this subject "Hush, Hush" because sticking your head in the sand is easier than actually addressing issues...

Show this to ur kids, it could save his/her life:

-Stay away from the Jungle Juice (fruit juice based concoctions) at frat parties. Yes,it's free and you'll want some but trust me there's NO WAY to measure the… Continue

Diabetes App Review: Diabetes News Update - iPhone Diabetes Technology

Posted on May 28, 2009 at 6:37am 0 Comments

This one looked promising, especially for bloggers, educators, doctors, and professionals who need to stay in the know on the go.

I opened the free program to discover 10 news headlines ranging from "Strict Blood Sugar Control Lowers Heat Risks in Diabetics" from May 21 to "Glucose Control Pays Long-Term Benefits for Diabetics" from May 20. Both of these were listed as from HealthDay news source.

Really? Really?

I clicked the first headline, which brought me to a page that… Continue

hi, Matt, I just did a search on the forums for vitiligo, and there's only 8 mentions of it, all from a while back. I read that blog on the Mexican cream, and tell me how it works for you if you decide to try it. I don't think there's much hope for me, because I've had it more than 40 years. I used to be very self-conscious about it, but now I could care less. Hardly anyone even looks twice; you'd be surprised to know how people don't notice things. Like I said, I wear my diamonds and bling all the time and if people notice anything, that's what they comment on.

there used to be a stain, that if you carefully applied it with a qtip, you could match your skin. I say stay out of the sun! it's bad for your skin anyway. It's tough if you have it on your face - I do, but I can wear makeup to cover it up. The places where I have the most are my hands and arms. It does come and go over the years, I used to have a lot on my chest, but now not so much. I used to have a theory that when I'd get a spot on one side, like my elbow, pretty soon I'd be getting a similar spot on the other elbow.

don't worry about what the girls think, either. I found my true love, and he doesn't even care one bit. my best friends don't notice either. I even had a boyfriend for a long time who had it, and he grew a beard to cover it up.

Hey there, I came across your profile randomly looking at discussions. What kind of medical tech company is it you run? I'd always prefer to support a real person if possible rather than a big faceless corportation.
