First of all - don't ever think your questions are superficial. No one except a parent of a child with diabetes will understand what you go through on a daily basis - and the support I have had from those parents has kept my sanity since my son wa...

I agree with what has been posted. It's basically up to how you want to address it. If you are going to keep it with all the sugar (as we do), then portion it. Make cupcakes and do the math. If you feel you should reduce the sugar, try using Splen...

I agree with everybody. Like Erin and Jessica said, Pillsbury makes a "Reduced Sugar" cake mix and icing that is wonderful. The cake comes in chocolate and yellow (and I think one other flavor) and their chocolate icing is wonderful. I've used it ...

Welcome to the community, Maria! Let me know if I can help you find your way around TuDiabetes. I was a childhood type 1 myself, so if I can ever answer any questions from that perspective, feel free to ask.

Welcome Maria. Haha we finally found someone from Western PA. I started this group but almost all of us are in Eastern PA approx 2 hrs away, some actually only less than an hr from each other. We were beginning to wonder if there was Diabetics in Western PA ..... so if you didn't already join our group. Just passed thru ur way 2 weeks ago on my way home from Ohio.

Maria, I see you found the group for parents. There are some very helpful parents there, I know! It gets me down sometimes thinking about the small ones with d, I was 13 myself when diagnosed. That was in 1967. a lot of things have changed since then, and changed for the better! In the two years I've been here on TuD, I've learned a lot. Ive also seen many women have successful pregnancies (something that I could not do), and many others living with it longer than I have with relatively few complications. This is a wonderful supportive community, where if you ask for help, you will be amazed at the outpouring of info and support. Please tell me if you have any questions at all.
