It seems like your wife will be having a vitrectomy in each eye. This is a very useful procedure, because they can get all of the blood out of the way and see where the retina needs to be lasered. In older times, they had to wait for the blood to ...

The price of eating something sweet (even fruit) before taking a driving test can be big. The last time I reapplied for my driver's license, I had a peach before going. I got to the eye test portion, and failed...why because I couldn't detect whic...

After the first two years I never used alcohol swaps again after injecting.

We use the OmniPod so we DO use alcohol wipes to clean the area prior to attaching the pod. When we were using MDI, we used the same method. Occaisionally we will use the Alcohol Wipes with benzocaine (pennies more per wipe), and they do work, but...

I have never used alcohol, except maybe a nip before I go to bed! I usually injected through the clothes, but not with the old reuseable needles. Won't wiping the area, after the injection, cause insulin to leak out of the site?

It may not be necessary, but it can't hurt either. Sometimes there is a spot of blood or insulin and you can use the swab to wipe it away. She should probably use a fresh swab or turn it inside out. Mine are folded and you can turn them to use a f...

Hi, Marad. I noticed that you're still using the default "welcome - upload your photo" hand image as your profile image. If you'd like to add some kind of picture to be your profile photo, look for the "Settings" link in the upper right portion of each page (next to the little silver gears). The very first option in Settings will walk you through changing your profile image. Good luck!
