Spring Break!

What's fun for a nice diabetic teacher to do while on Spring Break? And what would I like to find in MY Easter Basket?Well -- no candy for me! My Easter Basket needs to have other things in it. Get me some cool and cute and colorful new socks and roll them up like Easter Eggs. I really like music (no sugar in a CD) so put some music in my basket. Sharpies come in all kinds of colors -- instead of m&m candy in Easter colors, how about some Sharpies? I love tea. That fits in an Easter Basket…See More

Sleep Glorious Sleep

Posted on August 14, 2012 at 5:44am 8 Comments

OK - I need some information/advise/help.

A friend tells me I must have sleep apnea. I know very little about this and don't know if its worth talking with my doctor about.

I assumed it was just me. I only sleep maybe 1 to 1 1/2 hours at a time at night. I wake, move around, sometimes walk (muscle cramps) and then try to fall asleep again (hard - takes at least 1/2 hour). I thought that I must just need the bathroom or leg cramp pains and for awhile, I would always check my…

Silly Question . . .

Posted on January 16, 2012 at 3:47pm 8 Comments

I usually try to stay very positive but I really have a silly question about something that I found a downer.

Why don't people listen to us?

Strange - but I feel I know me best! I know what makes me spike, what makes me nauseated (gastroparesis). And so when I went in to a one-day surgery for an endoscopy and the nurse started to hook me up to an IV and I said - Hey! Watcha hangin there -- I think they should talk to me.

And then, when I said - Hey! You can't hang sugar…

I need to VENT

OK

So I need to vent.

Every once in awhile I would like some support.

Hey Family!

Do you think you could eat your pizza and BBQ wings and when you are done TAKE THE BOX out of the living room so I don't have the smell of all that in my face?

Do you think that when you borrow my skillet that I steam my veggies in to make your big juicy cheeseburgers you could clean it out instead of me scraping and washing it? All that cheese makes…

You're right, it's about being human- even when dealing with this disease.
And that includes all facets of being human, too...
Thinking, not thinking, feeling, deciding, failing and keeping up track...
And that's what turns me back to embracing life as a whole, with diabetes! : )

Welcome Home Marcia!

I am happy that you are reading this and that you are a member of the growing TuDiabetes family.

Since the community was formed back in early 2007, lots of things have changed. Also since then, lots of new members have joined: we're now nearly 11,300 members. So, new members and new features means it never hurts to refresh how things work around the community.

If you haven't read it, I invite you to take a few minutes to go through our New Member Guide. If you have been a member for a while but have let a little dust accumulate on your TuDiabetes account, you will find it very useful. If you joined just recently, you will find it EVEN MORE handy.

If you don't find answers to a question you may have, never hesitate to ask. Click on the Contact Us link at the bottom of any page and one of the members of our Admin team (you can see their faces on the bottom right side of any page) will get back to you shortly.
