The test strip accuracy is appalling since they have decreased the measurement time from 60 seconds to 5 seconds. You are right to be concerned this is killing diabetics. Pardon my spelling, the problem is that a lot of the high class words are spelled differently in French and English and I cannot remember which is which. My wife is even more confused since address is spelt differently in English, French and Swedish. Different combo of d and s.

- test strips are actually worse than most pills, it's the chemical inside the strip that attracts and absorbs moisture, and that will ruin them. Sounds like we found an easy fix for that. Glad to hear about your renewed interest in BG control - I say it's a worthwile investment =) don't beat yourself up - most of us have had problems and really, we are all doing the best we can. Do you have resources? I like the calorie king book and the online carb counter http://www.calorieking.com/foods/ and anytime you need encouragement post something on my page or in the forum - there are TONS of cheerleaders in the forum!

- HA - yes! nothing better than a strip that gives you a 99 =)
here's my 2 cents:
-all home meters can be as much as 20% off. (+/- ~25 points)
-all strips are sensitive to humidity, never store strips in the bathroom
-an open strip vial is only good for 30 days
-wet hands (water, or alcohol) will add variables
