It was about six years ago that I ended up in the hospital with acute kidney failure. Although I had yearly blood tests, the type 1 diabetes that I had for, apparently 10 to 14 years was never diagnosed. When the the nurses came in and asked me which insulin I wanted. I told them they must be in the wrong room. Well, that was the beginning, for me, of a different life. My kidneys, by miracle, have very slowly been healing, but my health is dramatically affected by the diabetes. I am now searching and praying for a diabetic detecting dog. My parents hired a governess when I was born. That didn't entirely work for me, but my dog did. My dog reared me. We were inseparable. I am once again in need of what only a dog can give. Any help or suggestion about finding a service dog would be so gratefully received. Thanks.

Our Annual Campaign is coming!

Would you consider helping by writing a short comment/testimonial about your
experiences at TuD? The main message for the campaign this year is that no
one with diabetes should ever feel alone. Messages from our community give
people a real-life, personal sense of how valuable TuDiabetes is to each of
us, how it's changed our lives, etc.

If you can, please include a photo of you doing something diabetic (if that
makes sense LOL). Please post to this group
(http://www.tudiabetes.org/group/why-i-participate-in-this-community), or
message to jrtpup on her page.

Thanks my friends!

Welcome to the family!! On this forum you will learn so much. Most of what you will learn is that you are not alone. Everyone here is supportive and will provide answers to your questions. Search the site for answers. Read the discussions and blogs for information. There are videos to help you understand diabetes and its treatment. Most of all there is family to talk to and vent to, if needed.

Hello! Thank you for having me as a friend Mary...
California...so far away, and yet right here! That's one of the appealing factors of tu.diabetes. I'm in Canada...in the southwestern part of the province of Ontario...a city named Kitchener-Waterloo (2 cities joined together). I'm a wife of 33 years, mom to two grown children, a grandma to 3 lovable little boys, a teacher, and before that an illustrator and graphic designer....I speak French and English, I read, history fascinates me, I paint, sing, walk, garden, ski, ride my bike....did I mention "read"? I love having friends over, I bake/cook, am an eclectic music lover, an animal lover...the ocean...ah the ocean...it speaks to me! Oh...and I have diabetes (and a few other things).
Keep in touch, ok?
Luv....linda
