Sad to say... "no" I have never participated in the event myself. Looking back I wish I would have been more active in events such as this (I will be writing a blog about this topic soon)... So now I just donate (Diabetes related donations to TU etc...) as much as my pocket book will allow me.

How has Type 1 Diabetes treated you since the age of 8 (1998)? I was dx'd at the age of 12 in 1984... I have had my ups and downs but overall manage to keep a smile on my face no matter what Diabetes throws my way 8^).

BTW- Thank you for the friend add.

nah we don't have that kind of insurance in NZ its a public health system - i only have to pay a part charge for insulin supply, testing strips are free... with the pumps there is no funding avail. fortunately my hospital is paying for mine - i just have to pay the consumables cost.

pumps cost an arm and a leg over here - both the pump and consumables

i contacted the animas corp today
and was told basically it might take longer to get to me :(
im so ready for it though!
im starting to get impatient, but i know the wait will be worth it.

so you have a minimed pump right?
i was planning on the minimed with the CGMS component
but i couldnt wait for my insurance to approve or dissapprove
so i went with my second choice: the ping.
have you tried any other pumps?

how have your sugars been looking?
whats the hardest part of diabetes for you?

hey mary-
i am expecting my pump sometime this week!
it should have came in yesterday, but i guess some paperwork was left infinished.
either way, im still really excited!
im ready to be rid of insulin pens and pen needles
AND having to remember to take my lantus at the same time everyday

WOW. i couldnt ever imagine having to deal with diabetes while i was in elementary school.
i was diagnosed when i was 18 and had a rough time with it.
people who have been diabetic for majority of their lives are truly amazing people ;)

im a little worried about the tubing part.
but im sure ill get over it soon enough.
im waiting for some final paper work to get approved and sent to the right offices.

HI!!
Yeah umm school is stressin me out a bit but all in all its cool. Greek Week is next week so that should be a fun time. In general I am just fine.

Yes one year is comming up soon. Myself: It is going very well and I move onto a Cozmore Pump in May. I have had my share of chalenges. Family: They try to understand but they really dont get it. Mom is a head case about it sometimes. But I know they care. (im only one on family with Diabetes) Friends: They try to act like that its cool and thaat just hurts. I really havent changed but they are always like watching me eat and question if I can do that. I have gotton sick of saying I can eat anything.

Hope all is well with you thanks for the check up ... you are more then welcome to add me if you like :D ... well I have History in an one hr so I should read for that I will ttyl

Michael ^_^
