Hey fellow TuDiabetics!Last night I managed to get myself a cut mid way down on my foot. It was slightly deep, but didn't bleed? Which is curious. But what I'm hoping to get advice on was how you…Continue

Less Carbs, No Stress!

Hi Everyone :)

I hope you are all well. I just wanted to shed a bit of positivity. I know a lot of people have seen me struggle, so i believe it is my job to also motivate everyone in the way they have for me :)

I am currently doing full time University and two causal jobs. I have assignments coming out of my ears and some of my circumstances at the moment are driving me absolutely insane. And all of this combined would usually send my diabetes to the fiery depths of hell. BUT.…

February query: What would you do with a diabetes-free day?

Hello all,

I would probably exercise and exercise some more. A lot of people would probably eat cake and lollies and sweets and their favorite food of choice. But what frustrates me the most about Type 1 Diabetes, is the fact that I cannot exercise without going…

IR202 Pumped up for Hypo's!

Posted on December 30, 2011 at 5:30am 12 Comments

Hello one and all and no one!

I would never want to scare anyone into avoiding an Insulin Pump! It would (for most people anyway) be one of the best decisions you have ever make in your Diabetic life. But I thought I might tell you a hypoglycemic horror story about myself when I was being introduced to Animas and how it could have cost me my life! It sounds completely exaggerated, but as we all know and as often as we are told otherwise - T1D could definitely, in the…

"100g onions have 9g of carbs. 100g tomatoes have 3.4g of carbs. In my opinion the death from accute flatulence is more likely than having a problem with a huge spike from the carbs. To me this is were Bernstein really has traits of a…"

You make parenting so easy my sweetie. You are an inspiration to the whole family and have allowed us to climb the enormous mountain with you. You have a family that loves and supports you within our understanding but you have joined a family that truly understands you to the core. Joining them is your first baby step to 'finding yourself' because of what you have in common. Just reading all the support brought tears to my eyes because as you know, if I could, I would swap places with you in a blink but I cant and I know that these beautiful people will be able to carry you and makes sense to you where we cant. We constantly admire your inner strength my girl and look forward to watching your progress as you enter this journey. Love you so very much my chicken:) Mom (PS) thank you T1 friends. We love you too...

Welcome to TuDiabetes! Check out some of the groups -- it's a great way to get to know the community. Diabetes is definitely linked with depression and anxiety. I know that first hand. There are a number of groups on here that are specifically focused on people with depression. But you can always ask for information on the general forum too. You and I were diagnosed pretty close to the same time -- I was February 2008.
