A little about me for anyone who was wondering? I'm 21 Live in Indiana.... I was diagnosed with type 1 November 1?, 2004. Yes, two weeks before Thanksgiving. When first diagnosed My blood sugar level was 844..... I just kept drinkin alot and going to the restroom as anyone on here can probably imagine..... I did this for about a week I think? I was at work one night and this girl that just started there noticed about my drinking and restroom habits and she just said your diabetic I know my brother is and what your doing you've got to be you better get checked.... That night I drove home. Stopped by my grandmas who had a meter and she checked it of course it wouldn't read so to make a long story short.... I ended up in the ER when I thought I was "fine". They didn't know how I ever walked in, let alone had been driving... I still didn't fully understand or wasn't able to gather all that big changes in just a matter of a few days that had happend, and didn't know about the bigger changes to come over the next week eating habits insulin taking, etc. All I could think about was making it to work the next morning as I had just been made a manager and didn't want to lose that..... Needless to say I missed more then a week of work. I take shots up to 4x a day, sometimes more depending on what my levels are. I'd like to get a pump and have almost had one several times but it seems like the deal always fell through.. laid off, insurance, money, etc... I still have the goal of getting one maybe this year it will happen. If you have suggestions on a type let me know I was going to go with a Medtronic..... but have heard there are other better brands that a year ago weren't known of around here? Today I live out on my own with a few furry friends (to many) I'm an animal lover... and for some reason the strays find me to easily. Someday I will find someone to share my life with thats really great, but I'm in no big hurry... I think living with diabetes deffinately puts a strain on the odds. I like watching movies once in awhile picking up a book... and being around people I like and can relate too. I have a really good doctor located near Avon, IN. My blood sugar levels could be better but I work an "easier" factory job and I think it gets in the way of checking your levels and taking your medicine. My A1C could be better but it's just something I have to work on. I like camping, dirtbikes 4 wheelers better I just got rid of mine...... Seeing new places and doing about anything. Thats about all I have to say about me right now so, if anyone ever wants to talk or anything you can go ahead and add me.
