"A behavioral thing? One issue I note is that: when blood glucose is 120 and up it generally moves slowly. In my T2 body; when the blood sugar goes to 110 - it starts moving/falling very fast and in fact will shoot to 70 rather than hover around 100…"

Hi Mia- You are probably feeling overwhelmed since your daughter was dx'ed. This is a terrific place to learn how to live a successful and healthy D life. Everyone here is very helpful and is always happy to help a newbie learn whatever they need to know.
Like Marie says below, your daughter may want to join and get to meet teens who also have T-1. Don't spend time on how you and/or your daughter became diabetic, just learn how to handle your lives as they are now.

hi Mia, here is a link to the Parents' Group

http://www.tudiabetes.org/group/parentsofkidswithtype1

everybody here is so helpful, I can't even begin to tell you how much I've been helped in the three years I've been a member. I'm the only one in my family with type1. My husband is type2. Perhaps your daughter may want to join here too, or look around. We are all helping each other here.

Type 2 is definitely congenital. But Nit everyone with the genetic makeup gets it. It really depends on a lot of factors. Type 1 sometimes can have multiple incidents within a family but it is into necessarily genetic. Rather it is an autoimmune disease that can be triggered by things like illness (even the flu is enough for some people), stress, emotional trauma, etc. I am the only type 1 in my immediate or extended family. You might want to check out the link on the home page for people new to diabetes. I think it's a good primer on the disease.

I have heard that diabetes type 2 skips a generation but I am wondering if it might be an old wives tale? That would be a great discussion question for type two. You would just go to the home page and press add discussing and ask away. Then people would respond. Having your daughter diagnosed with Type 1 would be hard. I am glad that you have found the support and information you need. It really helps in addition to a great medical team. You can also introduce yourself and your situation in discussion. There is also a group for parents with kids with Diabetes. I am hoping that as time goes by things will become much easier. It is very hard at first, especially with a child. It helps to talk about your feelings and learn new things. I am so happy you are here.
