Josephine, Thanks for letting me off the hook, you really are sweet, but I don't blame myself in a negative way. No, I didn't ask for it, but at the same time, I saw the signs and ignored where they were taking me. I could have corrected course a...

Mondays are always BAD for me. I think it's because I eat more on the weekends (more temptation, I think) and for some reason it just throws everything out of balance the next day, even when I'm not doing anything "wrong". I'm staying up right no...

First Day Normal!!!

I was in a hurry this morning, so though I didn't eat healthy, I did choose something in my carb limit, McDonald's Big Breakfast, 56g of carbs.

I was worried what my Bg would be

Before I tell what it was though, since I have been diagnosed, my lowest Bg measured was 168. I have been as high as 358, but in the last five days I have hovered around the low 200's

Today before lunch I measured a 94!!!

This was after an hour of working out and upping my dosage of Metformin back to 500mg 2x a day,… Continue

Mondays!

My original intent was to blog daily, and technically I am 1 hour and 3 minutes safe from missing my self imposed deadline.

Truth is, this Monday I just wasn't feeling it. I did good on my diet and exercise, stayed inside carb levels, but today was just tough to get through. No real temptations no battles, just exhausting and I am not sure why. My Bg is hovering in the high 100's and low200's, but that is normal for me so far, actually it is a bit low.

Tonight's gonna be short, sweet, and devo… Continue

Can't We all just get along.....

...Ok, actually I like the discussion. I didn't realize there was such a divide between T1's and T2's http://tudiabetes.com/forum/topics/discrimination-of-type-2

I guess I can understand that T1 is autoimmune and T2 is various other causes, but in the words of our president "What unites us is greater than what divides us."

Maybe the causes are different, but do we not all suffer from highs and lows. T1's need insulin, and quite a few T2's do too.
Our pancreases either produce nothing or not en… Continue

My Kingdom for a Bagel!

So as new as I am to all of this; watching Bg levels, eating healthy, exercise, etc...I was amazed at lunch today.

Let me start by saying that in the four days since I have been diagnosed with T2, I have eaten healthier than I have since I was a boot recruit at Paris Island. I haven't gone over my carb allowance for any meals or snacks, I have kept it all low sodium, and pretty low in Fat, though that last one is my own prerogative, not my Dietitian's.

It didn't bother me to give up cakes, coo… Continue

Diabetes IS a big deal

We concentrate on the things that are important, on the big deals. Diabetes was something I never paid much attention too, even when it was my own family members that were affected. I didn't look up recipes or try to find the latest research. It's not that I didn't care, I just didn't pay attention for the same reason I don't pay attention to hockey, Golden Girls reruns, or Wyoming politics, they might be important to some, but not to me.

Well now I am paying attention. I am following a bunch a… Continue
