Michelle, You might want to look into SAD light therapy. High LUX lights are expensive because the good ones are 10,000 LUX with no UV radiation. But they are very, very effective for seasonal affect disorder. All you do is sit under the light fo...

Some good, mild calmatives to try: Valerian, Motherwort and St. John's Wort. I rotate through these. The worts can cause temporary photosensitivity and I'm a gardener, so I use Valerian in the summer. I like them all in tincture form, but they are...

I saw this show and, at first, was surprised at Claudia Joy's tears but after I thought about it, I remembered I had cried in two coworkers offices when I told them about it. They are both diabetic so I knew they knew the issues we face. As others...

I have had more side effects than help when I've tried anti depressants in the past. I'm realizing that with the dark of winter coming, I need to think about some supplements and see what I can do to support myself. Have you found anything that he...

Kristin, I got vit D drops (in an oil/water emulsion) of 2000 IU and was told to keep them in the fridge. Do other folks keep them in the fridge? I forget to take them every day as they are not with my supplements. If anyone has time, I posted a ...

Michelle, I didn't get the message in time, cause I didn't check it this morning before I left. I was in such a hurry because I was late leaving. Also my computer crashed on me and so having to use my DH comp. I live in Tacoma. I just got back from the event in Seattle and really enjoyed it. I tried to find Toni Crebbins but nobody seemed to know who she was and I thought she was one of the organizers, maybe I just mis understood. Oh well. Sorry we couldn't meet up, but I did alot of networking for tudiabetes by handing out the cards to both participants and those who were in the different booths. I hope you were able to make it. Michelle,

Benaroya Research Institute in Seattle, which does research on autoimmune diseases including T1, is having an open house. During the open house they will be screening family members of T1's to see if they are at risk for developing it also, with an opportunity to participate in a trial. It will be held on March 22, from 1:00-4:00. There will also be a panel discussion and a tour of the labs. For more information you can go to www.benaroyaresearch.org, where you can also register to participate. Hope this helps!

Hi again. Thanks for the kind comments. My wife doesn't work, either. She was injured in a car accident a year and a half ago and can't work now.

The boating picture? That was taken near Kalama, WA in the Columbia River. We did a quick jaunt from Longview to Kalama and back one day a few summers back. :D

I asked my doctor about a different medication. She prescribed Glipzide, but the pharmacist told me that it's NOT a replacement for Metformin, but rather a medication to take along with Metformin. Since the Metformin that Walmart has is so smelly, but all that I can afford, I'm stuck with it. I just dropped the dosage. Instead of one in the morning & one in the evening. I'm only taking one in the morning with my daily single dose of Glipzide. The smell is still there, but not as strong. Not much less offensive, but I guess, until I can come up with something else, it's better than no solution at all. :D

Thanks for your encouragement. I appreciate it. I really do. I DO get really discouraged from time to time, but am determined to find a way to live a normal life. I didn't order this diabetes, and am not happy that it's on my plate. Since it's there, though, I'll just keep shoving it aside with medication & deal with the rest of what is on my plate as it comes. :P
