Michelle Forsman commented on Pam's blog post 'Ready to give up!! :('
"What antidepressant do they have you on? I take Cymbalta and it helps control the neuropathy symptoms as well. After they switched me to that a year ago, I stopped taking gabapentin all together."

Michelle Forsman commented on Sam I am's blog post 'My aha moment'
"Mary Tyler Moore was diagnosed before the 70s. It was more like early 60s. I was diagnosed in 1971 and was so sick so often. Of course no meters and taking 1 shot a day, so my blood sugars weren't controlled well at all. My doctors actually…"

Michelle Forsman commented on Michelle Reinhardt's group 'Gastroparesis'
"Kelly, I have never bolused for proteins and fats in my 17 years of pumping. This is the first I have heard of it. I would definitely have more insulin reactions if I added any more insulin in my meal boluses. Has the ADA changed to that…"

Michelle Forsman commented on Michelle Reinhardt's group 'Gastroparesis'
"I am hypo unaware as well. For me, proteins do not prevent lows, gastroparesis or not, so it wouldn't be a barrier for me. My barrier is that my endo upped my goal BG to 120 +/-10 instead of 80 +/-10. If proteins do raise your blood sugar, if…"

Michelle Forsman commented on Michelle Reinhardt's group 'Gastroparesis'
"My gastroparesis was first diagnosed in 1987, so I've dealt with it for 24 years. At one point it was totally unbearable. I could barely leave the house because of the symptoms. The two things that helped me get a better handle on it was…"

Michelle Forsman commented on Michelle Reinhardt's group 'Gastroparesis'
"I am celiac, so I do eat gluten-free. After going gluten-free, my gastroparesis episodes decreased and when they do happen, they don't last as long. They also aren't near as nasty tasting when I burp or when the rancid stuff in my stomach…"

Michelle Forsman replied to ChrisChris's discussion 'Holy Crap'
"I woke up at 5:15AM feeling low. Check it. Yep, 38. Lesser lows, and not in the middle of the night, I limit myself to about 15G of carbs, wait 15-20 minutes and check BG again. If I feel like it is going down further or again after I start feeling…"

Michelle Forsman replied to ChrisChris's discussion 'Holy Crap'
"I actually get very nauseated by extreme lows so it is tough making myself eat anything. Not to say that I have never over-corrected in 39 years of diabetes or 17 years on the pump, but as far as wanting to eat everything around, that's not me."

Michelle Forsman commented on Scott E's blog post '"Daddy, am I going to get diabetes?"'
"My daughter asked me that when she was young too. At that time i was on MDI and I didn't want to scare her about the shot because she was already petrified of needles. I just left my answer geberal. Something to the affect that we hoped not…"

Michelle Forsman replied to Jen's discussion 'Adhesive allergy/irritation'
"I have problems with a lot of the adhesives, but I also have problems with some of the cannulas. When I started on a pump 17 years ago, I had to use a bent (metal) needle set because the MiniMed cannulas caused a severe reaction. I stayed with the…"

Michelle Forsman replied to ilana's discussion 'Ketones question'
"Ketones are caused by your body burning fat for fuel for your cells. They show up when your blood glucose is high, because your body doesn't have enough insulin to use the sugar roaming around in your blood stream and your body burns stored fat…"
