Just bought our tickets a couple of weeks ago, as we are heading back to work in the orphanage this July. My husband too wants to work in China, but that would be down the road a bit. I have never had difficulty with the diabetes when traveling, or here for that matter, but it's the "what if..." that has me hesitating. Shanghai will have foreign doctors you can go to, but most likely we would be somewhere with much fewer western options. We shall see. Like you, I have always just carried everything with me, with no difficulty whatsoever. Why can't medtronic use Fed Ex to ship to you? I'm assuming you will still have insurance when you are there, it is just the shipping that is the issue, but you would be the one with the cost for that. Another option would be to have them ship it to someone here in the states, then have them ship it to you in China. You would definitely have to think ahead though; no last minute calls for pump supplies like I have occasionally done:( There was someone on this site who lived in Shanghai, but when I asked about what they do for their diabetes care, I never heard back. By the way, your daughter is adorable!

Hey Michelle, welcome to tudiabetes! I see you have already found the NW group. There seem to be a lot of us now in the area. Where do you go for your d-care? I go to UW for mine, but there are lots of good ones in the area.
