Hi, my name is Michelle. My daughter Michelle (Chell) was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes May of 2004.

Recently, I have done a video for Children who's parents insurance companies have denied them the CGM. This upset me very much. So much techology out there yet insurance companies dont help. We were lucky, my daughters insurance company did pick up the CGM for her.

I am very concerned about the other 25,600 children out there. One of our local TV station was running a contest, "PAY IT FORWARD" Even though my video did not win, this was a wonderful oportunity for me to tell about these other children who are in need of the CGM.

My future dreams is to help each one of these children along with many more children who's insurance company deny them.

Chells first day on Insulin pump

Chell started pumping today, fully with Insulin, we never did start with saline. We went to McDonalds for lunch after pump training, it was so funny Chell is looking all over in her purse and in my purse for her insulin pen. Told her she does have to have it now, since she has the pump. She forgot already.

What is Chell pumping with: MM 722 purple

It will be my pleasure to help anyone here, lord knows that I need it. It seems that I keep losing ground with this disease. Glad you have offered to help .

I am glad that things seem to be improving for you. I know that stress can be difficult, and sometimes a divorce can be a major stress reliever, contrary to popular belief!
I see that you homeschool. I am a teacher. Not currently teaching, but I have my degree and taught one year. I am now working another job and going back to school to get my master's. I think homeschooling can be a wonderful thing. I'm glad that you are able to do that.

My parent's divorced after adopting me. I still turned out okay. :D
They did a pretty good job by me actually.
I think it's great that you adopted when they were older.
I have already decided that I want to adopt my children. For a number of reasons. Number one: to continue the tradition. Number two: I am afraid of passing on diabetes. I think I would feel horribly guilty.
Ironicaly enough, I think I would adopt a diabetic child and never think twice about it. Just because I know how to take care of them.
Anyway, tell your daughter not to worry about having diabetes. It's not the end of the world by any means. Which I am sure you already know, but sometimes it helps to hear it from someone who's lived w/ diabetes for 22 years.

Hello Michelle! I was just checking out the pages of new members and noticed the last comment from Doris Ann that your girls are adopted. I am adopted myself! And a Type 1 diabetic. :) How old were they when you adopted them? I was an only child adoption. I was also a newborn adoption. But adoption anyway you go about it, is special.
Welcome to the site!

Yes our 2 chawias (sp) are our boy and girl and but of course they think their human and we adopted them too or should I say those 2 with that doberman personality adopted us? HA!
