Dear Michelle, thank you so much for this helpful post. I wish I had read it earlier... I had my first panic attack yesterday morning, and wrote about it in my blog. This afternoon, I have read half of the bloodsugar101.com website (it's a bottoml...

You hit the nail on the head. I've tried everything and the true answer was to eat less carbs and cut out grains. That was all it took and now I live free of medicine. I wish I had known so much sooner. :( The ironic part is that I'm Native Ameri...

When I first was diagnosed, I was like that. I felt that I had "something" inside of me that I wanted to just get rid of, even though I knew it wasn't like a tumor or something. Actually, I think that would've made it easier to fight. Diabetes is ...

Suzanne - I'm the same! I don't use my stove much at all, if I can avoid it. So much easier on the electric bill every month. Mostly it's just me and my blender though. ;)

Thanks for the link, I will have to try these. I have one of those counter top muffin cookers so I don't even have to heat up the house by turning on the stove :)

Suzanne - It's always the right time for pumpkin! I found the recipe here: Mini Pumpkin Flax Muffins, except I substituted the flax with 3/4 almond flour and 1/4 flax and made them bigger. I'm going to have one now! ;)

Hi all. I was diagnosed 15 years ago with an A1c of 10 (Type 2). I realized that any type of grains raised my bg so I cut them from my diet and moved to low carb/raw foods. My doctor once told me that it was a blessing for me to be diagnosed, beca...

Judith - I can totally relate. I used to tell the doctor that I could actually feel when my BG level would fall and how sick I would get. He thought I was crazy. For me, I used to be able to shoot up to 180 after I ate a meal and then with a littl...

Pumpkin Muffins: What went wrong and what went right!

So my wonderful husband bought me a new blender. I was very appreciative of it and wanted to try it out ASAP. I decided to use it to make pumpkin muffins. These are extremely low carb and use almond flour, instead of regular flour. I have no problems eating foods with nut flours. In fact, my BG is actually lower afterwards! I stock up on nuts and make my own flour/meal. It's cheaper and easier for me.

The muffins were very easy to make, but the recipe was a bit vague on the amount of liquid to… Continue

When it's not stress: Panic Attacks and Anxiety

I have always suffered from a certain level of anxiety, but over the years, it had gotten worse. Of course, I immediately attributed it to stress. Why not? Don't we all have stress in our lives? It was easy to find something to blame.

Several months ago, I suffered my first panic attack. It came out of the blue and I wasn't particularly stressed or upset at all. It was an awful feeling and one that I didn't want to experience again. Unfortunately, I did for several days and then my anxiety kick… Continue

14K People With Diabetes

My first post!

I was very excited when I saw on Twitter that a large group of diabetics were going to test their bg level at the same time. When I first was diagnosed, I wasn't surprised by it. I had some inkling for a few years, along with the fact that both my mom and dad had it, as well as others in my family. The only difference is that I didn't feel that I *had* to have it. I always felt that there was a way for me to reverse it, to figure out the right way to live to beat it.

It took me… Continue

Thanks for feedback on the tattoo. It is almost healed which is amazing since it is less than a month old. Usually it takes me 2+ to heal from a tattoo. It's amazing what tight control will do for the ability to heal properly :)
