You can find books on half.com.

Glycemic index?
Today we took our daughter to her ped endocrinologist and he suggested that we look into swapping over from counting carbs to using the glycemic index. I dont know what this would entail. I asked him about it and he just told us to go to the bookstore and buy a book on the subject. Has anybody tried this approach?

Hey, my name is Michelle my daughter Emily (5 yrs. old) was diagnosed with type I a little over a year ago. I have 3 other daughters besides her- twins, 14 yrs, and a 20 month old. Getting adjusted to diabetes has been tough on all of us.

Depressed about HgbA1c

I really thought we were doing good with my daughters blood sugars and with the insulin pump but I was and am wrong! She had her HgbA1c checked and shes over 8. I dont understand what we did wrong because I watch her like a dog and I measure out everything she eats and I have adjusted that darn insulin pump until I am ready to scream!!! Sticky tape??

My daughter has an insulin pump and the CGM. My question to ya'll is what kind of tape do you use to secure yours? We've tried opsites, paper tape, plastic tape- basically all the different kind of tapes that are sold in our pharmacy. My daughter breaks out in a rash from the tape and the sensor and then the tape doesnt really want to stick? Any advice?

My daughter is 5 years old and has an insulin pump. We've only had the pump since Thanksgiving- we dont have the low blood sugars at all anymore but we are having a lot of highs (greater than 400). We have been counting her carbs and making sure she gets her boluses like she is supposed to. What are we doing wrong?

- Thank you we appreciate all the signatures that we can get. I really just picked a place and am feeling my way through it. LOL! I often feel confused and wonder if I'm going about it in the right way. I think as long as your doing something it is better than nothing at all. Just talking to people about it is helping to educate someone who may not know or may have the wrong idea. Let me know if I can help!
