Happy Birthday Micky! I saw your profile on the b-day list today and saw you have an 11 yr old daughter with D's. My daughter just turned 11 in June and she was diagnosed with Celiac 2 yrs ago so I understand the struggles with having a child with an illness. I have also had T1D's since I was a child myself! How is your daughter doing on the pump so far? I've been on the pump for 3 yrs myself. I used to be a child care provider like you as well as an assistant director myself for many yrs! So it looks like we have some things in common! :)

Hello Micky:

Quite recently, I was asked "...IF I WAS SANTA..." by several of my really young students. I always dress is white, and am not like a bowl full of jelly (by any means)... Only when I realized my goate was coming in awfully white
Did I finally put two and two together.... Playful Sigh

Honestly, it's too hot! LOL I had a few problems with my pump because I was out of work for 7 months just a few months after I got it. Luckily, my endocrinologist was amazing, and gave me a HUGE box of an older style of sets to use until I got insurance again. Then all I had to deal with was paying $98 for a bottle of insulin....

Hi Micky, My daughter is going to be 9 in about a week and we've been pumping now for almost a month. So we are new to this. We are using the MiniMed 522 and so far so good. We've used the silohuette infusion sets but she still has good and bad days with insertion. I'm sure it's just an adjustment. I'm sorry I didn't respond right away we are currently out of town, the pump has been a real blessing while traveling, we can be more flexible about when and what she eats and alot more spontaneous in general. Overall the pump has been a really good thing even though I still feel a little dumb about what I'm doing and troubleshooting situations that are new.

About Us...

My daughter was diagnosed on Feb. 8th 2008 with Type 1 D, Kacey is 11 years old. We brought her to the doctors because she was sleeping and drinking ALOT. They sent us the ER and then ICU, we spent days in the hospital getting KC well and learning, learning, learning, BS, shots, carb counting and supplies....It has been a little over a month now and we are coming to a new normal. We are now waiting for our next appointment to talk about the pump. Which we wish would come sooner than later. So much to live and learn at the same time. Kacey is on Novolog during the day and Lantus at night.
