Belinda replied to Chris's discussion 'thinking of going tubeless' in the group OmniPod Users
"With the OmniPod, I fill the reservoir, stick the pod on & press a button on the PDM. The tube, priming, the different inserters etc... A load of headache I can do without! I've had about 1 failure every 2 months. That means that 5% of the…"

Belinda replied to Chris's discussion 'thinking of going tubeless' in the group OmniPod Users
"I have an OmniPod & I'm happy. I would not like the hassle of a tubed pump. A pod failure is normally an occlusion, which may occur more often with the shorter, thinner catheter than those lovely tubed ones with their complicated insertion…"

Belinda replied to Jim's discussion 'The new pods' two-hour alarm' in the group OmniPod Users
"It's the most expensive pump on the market. The additional features that make it better for vulnerable users justify the additional expense in price sensitive situations (aka 21st century healthcare). Why are pods lasting less than 72hrs?…"

Belinda replied to Jim's discussion 'The new pods' two-hour alarm' in the group OmniPod Users
"Hey, I'm a happy European! In type 1, with neither long, nor short-acting on board, DKA can occur within a few hours of a pod / pump failure. Not testing during the night, or testing every 6 hours when awake, is usually fine. When a pod or pump…"

Belinda replied to Jim's discussion 'The new pods' two-hour alarm' in the group OmniPod Users
"If that alarm saves one life, it's worth the "inconvenience". My attitude to my pod is that it is there to keep me safe. I think that alarm is one, like the 16-hour shut-off that you can't deactivate."

Belinda replied to Jim's discussion 'The new pods' two-hour alarm' in the group OmniPod Users

Belinda replied to Jim's discussion 'The new pods' two-hour alarm' in the group OmniPod Users

Belinda replied to Jim's discussion 'The new pods' two-hour alarm' in the group OmniPod Users

I have been using my Pump for 9 days now. As it's an OmniPod, it's actually been 4 different ones (1 pod lasts 72 hours & I knocked one off during a hypo - thank God!). Do I like the pod? It's good being able to attend a meeting, have a piece of cake (like everyone else) & only need to press a few buttons to bolus for it.

I did a basal test from 02:30 to 06:30, I think my 04:00 - 09:00 basal should increase slightly. Tonight, I have to remember not to have a bedtime snack… Continue

Yesterday, I started on Insulin Pump Therapy. I remember walking to the bus stop on the icy pavement in my Wellington boots. I was so excited & bouncy that just keeping my feet on the ground was a challenge.

I got to the hospital, having decided that a taxi would be wiser than trying to get onto the District Line platform, and the Receptionist told me I was meant to be in on Thursday! We'd changed the appointment to Tuesday, so that I wouldn't be changing from Multiple Daily… Continue
