Interestingly enough, when I was diet and exercise controlled alone in my 30s, all of a sudden, after I kept having high liver enzymes (gee, doc, what you you think that's about? Quit asking me if I've gotten sick lately!), the first sign that my di…

Hi ! Max is written in java... Since it's quite new it uses java 1.6, which is NOT supported by OS 10.4, so if it runs on 10.5, then it will also run on 10.6. If you manage to get java 1.6 for OS 10.4, then it will run there too, but I don't think…

I'm in a similar situation: I just started on a Ping and want to start using the ezManager Max software, but my current computer (Mac PowerBook G3) has OS 10.4.11. If I buy a new Mac, it will have 10.6. I guess I have to buy the 10.5 Leopard softwar…

Good question. I have a mini One Touch in my purse, and I keep another mini in my desk drawer at school, and I keep an Ultra Smart near my bed. I have these little rectangle containers to keep my strips/lancets in after I've used them. One fits in…

I would agree with dargirl. They are the first sign my sugar is high. I hate them! One doctor told me they are from excess lactic acid building up in the muscles, because your body isn't using insulin properly, your muscles can't rid themselves of t…

I had the same thing from my internist. She led me to believe that I could control, even reverse, my T2 diabetes in my 30s with hard work in dieting and exercising. I ate less than 100 gms of carbs a day, worked out for 2 hours a day (1 hour in the…

I have been on it for 10 or so years now. I developed kidney damage with my second son (I was GDM with all three of my pregnancies, and in my 30s the doctors fooled me into controlling it with diet and exercise, until I developed heart disease and h…

Please support me in the ADA St. Louis Step Out Walk

Hi friends!

Tonight is the kick off party for the ADA-St. Louis Step Out walk event in October. I am the T2 spokesperson for the walk and the Red Strider chair for the ADA-St. Louis.

I posted an event on the event board, but in case you can't find it, it's from 6-9 pm at The Old Rock House at 1200 S. 7th Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63104.

You should RSVP to Polly Klasek at the ADA, but if you didn't, don't let that stop you from coming!

Free soda and appetizers!

I would LOVE to see you, meet you,… Continue

Calling all St. Louis area PWD's!

I need my friends to help me out on this one. This would be a perfect opportunity for all the St. Louis area diabetics or PWD to get involved personally in advocacy and diabetes awareness.

Thanks to Kaycee Connell, the St. Louis diabetes Examiner, I found out about this free program. It just so happens that my endo, Dr. Garry Tobin, also promoted this program to me in May when I went for my twice a year check up.

What Eric and Garry want to do is create a community of PWD's who will volunteer… Continue

+ Walter Proehl

Hi all:

Just letting you know that my dear father-in-law, Walter Proehl, lost his fight with diabetes this afternoon (Monday).

He had another major cardiac arrest Sunday evening, and his body just couldn't hold out any longer.

I know many of you prayed for him and prayed with me while we went through this long 90 day journey to find out if he could recover from 30 years of poorly managed T2 diabetes.

We know now that we have another fellow diabetic up in Heaven on our side.

Here are the arr… Continue

Prayers for Wally Needed:

I just posted this on my blog.

An update I've sent to friends:

I'm hoping to download a song that he and Yvonne first danced to - in order to stimulate something - we know he's listening and looking. Then I'm taking the kids up there after Joe gets home from Jack's soccer game. Joe's mom, Yvonne, and his sisters, Mary and Terri, are there at the hospital now.

We take turns and shifts. Yvonne is anxious, and we're loo… Continue

Paying for Carb Overload Last Night

So, because of the snow day, I ordered pizza. Now, I can't have - really AT ALL - my favorite Chicago-style thick crust pizza that I love so dearly. So instead, I order one of our local pizzerias, one of our favorites, Cecil Whittaker's. It's very thin crust, and usually, it doesn't affect my BS in the way I'll pay for it later.

So after I've been on the Byetta, I'm thinking, wow - I feel good today, I can eat some more pizza (more than my allotted two pieces), and I do. Combined with the salad… Continue

I know it's been a long time. I find it hard to make myself go up to the 4th floor to use their antiquated computer. It's uncomfortable both ergonomonically and for my disability. I hate it herre. They keep putting regulations on me every time I turn around. Can't do this, can't do that. Can't go here, can't to anywhere. No money and nowhere to spend it! Now, does that answer your questions? Ssssssccccrrrrreeeeeaaaammm!

Sorry, I've lost that positive attitude. I seem to have lost a lot of friends here, too. Siiiiiiiggggggggghhhhh!

I know I am early with these greetings, but I am in a rehab after a below-the-knee amputation and don't always have energy to hit the internet. So I chose my time well.

Hope it will be an absolutely maaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrvelous day honey pie!! Now with all this sugar, you'd better go check your levels!!!
