OMG, makes me really glad I've never bought any!

You've probably barely been on the Met long enough for it to start having a solid, stable effect. It takes 4-6 weeks, as it builds up in your body. Most RDs and CDE's recommend the ADA number of carbs per meal and per day, and it's higher than alm...

Ah, so you probably know that area's parking issues well!

Parking isn't free on Sunday as far as I know. Everyone feeds the parking lot meters. This page might shed more light: http://parking.smgov.net/overview.html They also don't say anything about Sundays free.

Not sure where in SM you are, but the OP is on Main Street, closer to Venice than SM. I would recommend to anyone that whatever time we decide on, you might want to go early to check out the farmer's market down the block.

Here's the menu. Might be slightly out of date by a year or two. http://www.menuism.com/links/show/cFU55qlKGr3PGzaby-ekYc

Not sure whether you're aware that the Omelet Parlor is PACKED on Sundays due to the farmer's market a block away. Parking in that area is very difficult and limited all weekend & on the expensive side for some (bring a sack of quarters!). I had b...

I didn't realize that folks in the UK were that much aware of, or ate bagels that much. Ya learn something every day! There is a company that makes 5 kinds of low carb bagel, one only 10 carbs for the whole bagel. Very lucky for me they are based ...

Pineapple, grapes, and watermelon. Cantaloupe and honeydew are 'medium' for me. Berries are good for me - strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries. Peaches, nectarines and plums are also medium - I can have one.

You will get a variety of answers to this question, Cathy. Everyone has a different opinion as to what is ideal as far as carbs. Some people advocate eating very low carb indeed, others moderately low, but all of us would agree, I think, that we c...

hi vicki,
yeah i know what you mean. i just seem to briuse more easily now then i use to. you should see my stomach from after my surgery. it's real pretty. it's been almost three weeks and it's just starting to fade. where i use to work i would walk by this one table and always "bump" into it and right there on my thigh i would always sport a big ugly black and blue mark. my mom always had hugh black and blue marks and they told her it was just that she was getting older and her skin was more apt to show the bruises.

Celtophile, that's a good one. I like a lot of different music, there are some good musicians here. Do you know Enya, singer and a band called Clannad, they live 5 minutes from me. Their father owns a pub called Leo's, they had U2 there and other famous people. Imagine Bono in a wee pub down the road. I am a fluent Irish speaker, so if you need anything translated.

My Evening With Andre

Last night, I went to an Andre Rieu concert, and had an absolutely wonderful evening. If you don't know who AR is, I can't really do him (or his and his orchestra's performances) justice by my own descriptions, so I direct you to his Wikipedia entry. I'll just say that the evenings are full of wonderful music, brilliant voices, and most of all, FUN, of the old-fashioned, sentimental and, yes, schmaltzy kind - but believe me, it's good schmaltz ;-) And about six encores, with the entire audience… Continue

RANT: I'm right and you're wrong is in the eye of the beholder

I've been met with some disturbing phenomena on another D-forum. To be honest, I don't know if the same situation exists on TuDiabetes (maybe it does), because I read its forums less often.

Rant #1:
First of all, we have the personality conflicts of those with posting styles such that everything they post has a "this is what I do/this is my answer, everyone should be doing this" vibe, which quickly turns into X's continuing, permanent agenda, vs. those who believe that there is no oneContinue

Mondays!

It was one of those Mondays where you're hit all day with pissy little things - nothing major, just one small annoyance after the other, which builds until you're just in a crappy mood generally. Interestingly, it seemed to be that way for many of my co-workers too, that things were going the same way for them (and their problems were different than mine). Sigh....

But I came home to find a message on my answering machine that the doctor's office has actually faxed the authorization for my test… Continue

A1c - Whoo Hooo! :-D

When I was diagnosed in December of 2008, my BG was in the mid 500s, and had probably been 300+ for close to a year. So when I had my first A1c in March I was expecting it to be something awful like 11-12, and I was flabbergasted when it came back 5.9.

I had my dose of met increased, which improved my a.m. numbers, but I've been eating more 'no-no' meals during that time, when I would spike to just under 200, although I'd come back down nicely at 2 to 2-1/2 hours - I never stay high. Still, eve… Continue
