Went to see the Mental Health guy at my Endo's office today and we chatted about some things. Seeing as how it was our first talk together, I gave him the whole diagnosis story starting at 10 years ago and wrapping it up with the whole wheat muffin I had for breakfast this morning. As many diabetics do (or people living with a chronic illness, for that matter), I blamed myself for the disease. Being the only diabetic in the family, I wondered if there was something that I could've done to… Continue

I just went and looked at your blog. Yes, I know well the "I lost the paperwork" antics. Back a few years ago, the procedure at my clinic was to see the doc, and then he'd order the AlC and you'd go to the lab, go home, and get a letter in the mail with the results. Well, there were a couple of times when I took the lab sheet and dropped it in the trashbin on my way out the door. The next time I went, he never seemed to notice that there was not a result from 3 months before. I felt really smug about it.
A couple of years ago the clinic changed there system and you get your blood drawn before the appointment and then discuss the results at the appt.
I was more than disappointed, but, I got over it.....................

Yes, Tim, it was the title that grabbed me!
I really like what you said about a "lifestyle" rather than a disease. That context is a powerful attitude changer.
We have 36 Type 1's in my extended family (going to 4 generations), which puts a different spin on things.
Hope you find the m. health person helpful.

Tim,

I just checked out your blog. That's quite a diagnosis story you have; do you mind if I add your blog to my blogroll? Goodluck with Joslin!

Welcome to TuDiabetes. Would you like to join the US Northeast group here?

Have you heard about the pumpers group that meets in Woburn? I went to my first meeting last month and it was great.

Good to see you here, Tim!

I am a bit of a music pump... err... pimp, I meant, myself. :)

Have you checked out Last.FM? It's a great music site that pulls from the music you listen to on your computer and then displays your preferences in a way that let you easily connect with others that have similar preferences.
