Pasta does the same thing for me. I used to bolus for it, crash an hour later and treat the low, then be crazy high a few hours later. Finally figured out that that I just seem to digest pasta slowly (maybe because it's low GI?). So now I do a com...

Hi Nadine , how I wished to have met you in Victoria this past Sunday !!...I had a blast ; was cheered on by hubby , Yves and Lee Provost( Yves cycled with Diabetes Summer Surge from Halifax to Victoria this summer) and a friend of a friend, who I had met at a wedding in Victoria , end August passed me and recognized me . I met a young woman from Calgary , also type 1 on the course ( a Team Diabetes person) and we ended up crossing the finish line together . She kind of looked after me , when I felt low etc. ...she had a worse cold than I had .We both were not too concerned about beating our previous race time as long as we crossed. In the end : 3hours, 21 min.,47 seconds , upright and smiling . I know some of her type 1 friends , who live in BC ...small world !! Team D. raised $ 45,000.00 at this event .We did well ! And the weather ...awesome :-) Thanks very much for putting a comment on my page ...maybe our paths will cross again ...

Hi,
I have not quite reached a decision yet on this, but the big stumbling block for me is that neither the Navigator or the Dex read blood glucose values in mmols. I am not so sure that I want to be converting each test.

I have obtained most of my information from the US web sites. I did e-mail the manufacturer and they tell me that they do offer a cash price for those without insurance. You will also need a script from an American doctor and a US shipping address. They told me they would help with the doctor. I also use an Animas pump and the Medtronic CGM is way too expensive.

With that said, I may just bite the bullet and get the Dex, as I really want to tighten my control.

It is good to talk with someone from Victoria. I graduated from UVic in 93. I often wish that I had not moved to Vancouver, as the Island is so beautiful, but work was calling.

Take care!
Graeme
