An update

Posted on January 31, 2011 at 5:05pm 1 Comment

I had the chemical stress test, and the girl said it was too easy for me. So I passed that with flying colors, nothing to show there! YAY I was really relieved! The Doc put me on simvastatin since my cholesterol was high, and an ace inhibitor to protect my kidneys, Levemir and Victoza. I got these on Thursday, and today is the first day I've had real nausea, and I'm just on the .6 still. I hope that's what it is, or I'm starting to get a bug or something.. My sugars are still high, I know I'll… Continue

Another new doctor

I had my first visit with Dr. Coleman today. She came highly recommended, and I wasn't disappointed. She's local, works out of the same hospital I work in, so it's really convenient. She also works closely with Geri, my diabetes ed, who is awesome too. She's doing labs and a stress test (since I mentioned chest pains), then I'll go back to see her and talk about my labs in 2 weeks. She thinks I am a good candidate for Victoza, so hopefully, I will get to try it out soon. I am nervous about the… Continue

Fail....

Posted on January 8, 2011 at 10:29pm 5 Comments

I fail miserably. I have not done one thing to help myself. I went to the Diabetes Ed classes, then back for a follow-up, where the DE pulled out some insulin and made me take some, and called a new Dr. to see if she'd take me on as a patient. I go to see this new Dr. next Friday. My hubby also had a Dr.s appt last week and learned that his a1c is 8.1, which is up from 6.9 in September. He's been on some prednisone tho, so I'm not sure how much of the higher numbers is due to that. My biggest… Continue

My A1c is........

13.1

I knew it was going to be high, so it's not a shocker to me. She wants to put me back on Metformin, 500mg twice a day. I don't have a problem taking Metformin, it doesn't give me the side effects that it does some people i know. But that is all she wants to do right now. The rest is up to me. I called the Diabetes Education dept where I work and talked to my DE Geri......she is great, I really love her. As soon as she gets the referral paperwork from my Dr. we'll…

New Dr.

I went to a new PCP in OKC today, and I really did like her. She is going to wait to prescribe me any medications until my lab work comes back. She also wants me to have a sleep study done, and go back to Diabetes Education Class....so..we'll see what happens next week when my results come back. She also talked up the South Beach Diet pretty good....so I may try it too.
