Hi All,well not going so well lately, went on the pump for the first time at the end of June, I was great with a new found enthusiam towards my diabetes and to hit it head on. Constant blood testing, weekly uploading my data to my specialist, counting and weighing everything to correctly enter into my pump. My levels were doing great !well that lasted about 4 weeks....... now im not even checking my sugars unless I eat, which is not much lately as I work at a job that makes it very hard to stop…See More

I have the security of knowing that if something happens to my pump, I can immediately switch over to my spare pump. Mimimed does not offer a back up pump, so if you have a pump accident, you need to know how to go back on shots until they can get you a replacement. I have always used Minimed infusion sets, however. the luer lock connection is the same. You spoke of the pain on insertion. Make sure you are looking at comments on infusion set introducer needles, and not the CGMS device, which the minimed brand is known to be brutal and very scary. I also use a Lidocaine/Prilocaine cream when I can, it completely numbs the skin so I don't feel anything. of course, if I have to make a change right away, I don't wait for the cream (takes an hour to take effect) and it's not really painful.
