And my 18 month A1C was a freaking 6 down from an original dx of 15.4!!! I couldn't believe it. Even my MD's were amazed at how quickly I've taken and owned my T1D. I've still got work to do as I…Continue

I'm a newly dx'd T1 who as a professional communicator can find no words to express how I feel. It's been a little over a month since being told my BG was over 600 with a subsequent A1C of 15+. I…Continue

...AND????
I just got news that my A1C has continued its descent. A month and a half away from my 2nd Anniversary and my A1C has dropped to 5.8 down from 6.0 at my year and a half point. As a Disabled Veteran, I'm dealing with the continued progression of my military injuries and have most recently lost the use of my right foot and had surgery on my spine (Artificial Disc Replacement). My MD says I'm driving her crazy with my goal of getting and staying down around 5.0, but I'm…

I joined here only a couple weeks ago.. best thing I ever did.
You will find that now.. you are not alone and.. you have a whole team of warriors behind you..their experiences and knowledge have been immeasurable to me.
Take care!
Noticed your post about being a distance runner and wanted to let you know that diabetes and running go great together.
TeamType1 has an amateur running team and triathlon team. (I'm a member of the running team). One of our key races for 2011 is actually the Chicago Marathon. You can learn more about us at http:/www.TeamType1.org
And if you no longer run, the "distance runner mindset" will still serve you will as you learn more. :)
Best,
Marcus Grimm
