Great post. This may seem like a tough decision but once it's done you'll all move on and your son will get used to life on a pump (whichever you decide on). My 9 year old had a hand in the decision making process (no omnipod option in Canada) and...

thanks for the update!

I just got officially plugged in to my Ping two days ago and I LOVE IT! I have bcbs insurance and Animas took a whole two days to process my paperwork/negotiated fees w/ them after they had received the last A1C and order form from my doctor. Ever...

My son tried the Animas and, once we had them, an Omnipod on his abdomen, and couldn't stand either one. The arm is the only place he will wear a pod so far. So maybe getting him to try one on his arm would be a start. Bribing works too! I think I...

While I agree that empowering him with the decision is the "right" thing to do, I really sounds like, typical of a child) he has let the one painful experience tint his outlook and judgement. Early on in my podding life (I've been podding for more...

This is your son who seems to be an intelligent, independent young man. There are advantages and disadvantages to both systems, but I'm an Animas convert and I love it. I'd have hated a pod for all the reasons you've already experienced, and more,...

I've never used an omnipod, so my opinion is pretty biased : ) I have used an older model Animas (IR1000) and a cozmo. I chose last year the animas ping over the omni-pod for myself and my 2 daughters (also type 1) mostly due to fears of them ripp...

Our Rep was specific about the fact that they were no where near a double insertion pod. To close to the injection site for insulin to be specific enough. She did say that the handheld will sync with the dexcomm sensors this summer.

Hello, My 4 year old was diagnosed just over 1 year ago. We, too, quickly grasped the concepts and our endo also let us start pumping quickly. Within 3 months of diagnosis, we had already started using the OmniPod. I will start by saying that the...

That's largely in line with what I heard from the third quarter Insulet conference call. If I remember correctly, FDA submission for the Dexcom / PDM combo is on track for end of the year 2009, and FDA submission for smaller pods is on track for m...

It sounds like you have a very bright and strong son. I was diagnosed at 17 years old and wasn't as together as he seems to be at 10. To me it's his body and he has to wear it and manage it and because he sounds so extraordinary maybe he knows wha...

Like Melissa, I am a former tubed pumper (albeit with Medtronic MiniMed for 20 years) and I'm now an OmniPodder as of earlier this year. I was diagnosed in high school, and I started insulin pump therapy within 24 hours of diagnosis, largely becau...

Other than to say that I am happy with my Pod, I have nothing to add.... just want to comment on how impressed I am with these kids! Wow. Good luck to you.

Would you mind sharing with me the contact information for your OmniPod rep? I've been trying, with no luck so far, to talk to someone close to Insulet engineering about the possibility of working on Mac-compatible software. It sounds like your rep might be able to help me get in touch with the right person.
Thanks,
Eric

Just saw your post on the omnipod forum. I was diagnosed at age 11, dis shots for 8 years, Minimed pumps for 4-5, and am now on the omnipod since dec last year. I would reply but figured a phone call might be better. I live in cental time zone and should be available to call tomorrow evening after about 5 or 5:30. I'm more than happy to chat about my experiences and it sounds like your son has a very independent attitude like I did. :-) my cell is 405-664-7223. If you choose to call, I look forward to talking with you!
