Hi, just checking in. Hope all is well. We are just getting for the new school year and "new teachers". We will have quite a meeting at the home visit prior to school starting. Let me know how it is with you.
Take care,
Leah

Hi Nicole. Great to hear from you. I haven't been as active in the Tu site as before so it was nice to see your message. We are fine. It seems like diabetes has been a part of our life forever. It has only been 7 months. Jillian is on the pump which allows her to handle it all on her own. We always ask her what her "numbers" are but she is the one who tests automatically. I sometimes get mad at the fact that she has to deal with this evil thing, but it doesn't seem to ever get her down. She pretty much has accepted it from day one. Never questioning it. How are you and your son? Is he doing well? Are you doing well?
We were at the beach last weekend and my husband and myself saw a man in swim trunks/ no shirt with a pump. It was so cool. I hadn't ever "just ran into" anyone on the pump before (outside of support groups). I wanted to say something to him but he was gone so fast. I wished that Jillian could have seen him but she was way too busy playing in the waves. I hope all is fine with you. Write back and let me know how it's going.
take care,
Leah

HI Leah - stumbled on your page and thought I would just say hello. How is school going for your son? Willow was dx just a month before school started this year but we have been really fortunate to have a great school situation. Well just wanted to say hi!

Hi Nicole! You are an old pro compaired to me. My eight year old daughter Jillian was diagnosed on Dec. 10, 08. I'm so happy that I found this site so early after her diagnosis. I have been reading as much as my schedule allows me to and it is almost eerie to see people writing about EXACT things that I have experienced with jill. You really do have people here that know just what it is all about. What a "cutie" you have. Have a great day. Leah

I learnt from friends in this site that the health care system is great and it is national system,so that you do not have to worry about supplies and all.
what regimen of insulin Aidan is on right now? are you thinking of the pump?
With time everything will be easy for all of you, best wishes.

Thanks Doris...yep..this is a huge transition..one I wished we never had to face...but we have a very positive attitude of this becoming OUR new normal. Thank goodness I am carbohydrate savvy..however with Aidan starting school in September..I might need a little help!!

WOW what a cute little boy! Can I hazard to tell you that???? Type 1 is really hard for parents to get a grip on. My parents had a real hard time when I took it at 10 and I had a hard time even though I was a Type 1 when my then 11 year old daughter took it. She's now almost 20 like 10 days away from it and has 2 girls of her own! There is a group here called parents of Type 1 you might want to join that group and voice your questions there! GOOD LUCK !!!!! I'm so glad that this month is better that the last one and every month that goes by it will get eaiser. It's just that the 1st year is a really rough one for parents and the children alike!!!
