A year and a half ago when I noticed that a new blood pressure med was messing with my sugar readings, I started an Excel spreadsheet and set up columns for date, weight, blood pressure, blood sugar at various times of the day, exercise, how I'm d...

In addition to the software, you have to buy the cable. I think I figured out it was close to $70 for the software & cable if you don't have an IR port on your computer (I don't.) If you *do* have an IR port, that price goes down by about $25. I'...

Hi Norma, first you will need the device to connect your Aviva meter to your PC. It may be that the 360 software can use the IR port to read from the meter but I do not know this for sure. If your PC has no IR port then you can only use the Accu-...

Norma I just thought of something else you can do about the carbs in milk. There is a product called almond milk that can be used in place of regular milk and it is very low in carbs. It comes in regular and also vanilla flavors.and I think it tas...

If I have to use this option, I also look at the Glucerna products. I eat their cereal, and my sugar is fine afterward - the only cereal that I can eat with that result. They have meal replacement bars and shakes also.

They are both fairly high in carbs and alcohol sugars. But you can get flavored whey protein powder or there is and I like the best egg white protein powder in flavors. 30grms of protein and 6 carbs. they have been a life saver for me.

Norma- I agree with Saundra. You have to read the labels, count the carb content (including milk). Test your blood sugar after you drink the shake if it's good, why not enjoy it? Cherise

Hi Norma A lot of us use shakes for a quick meal. You just need to read the nutrition label on the back and see how much sugar or how many carbs it contains. And remember that the milk you would use to mix it in has carbs too. So don't forget to a...

Norma. My mistake, it is www.AllStarHealth.com
I guess I had old on my mind. When you get to the site just put in Egg Protein Powder and it should take you to some. It is in a black 24oz. container that says on the front ( gold Standard 100% Egg) It shows on the page after putting in egg protein powder Optimum Nutrition Egg Protein or something similar. They have rich Chocolate and Vanilla Custard. Let me know if you can't find it . You can send me your email address and I can send you the link.

Hi Norma, I was diagnosed in Dec. 2008 and have gone through what you are going through now. My husband is a MD, PHD in research and he is the one that told me to look into both the whey and egg white protein. I don't do soy protein powders because they promote estrogen production and I have gone through menopause plus I don't like the taste even if it is flavored. Whey protein poder is ok, but still has some yukky taste to me. I love the egg white protein powder in Chocolate. I had some crushed ice 2 packets of artificial sweetner and 1 cup of 1% milk (less fat and cal.) and it is just like a chocolate malt. I have only found a couple places that carry the egg protein powder and the cheapest is over the internet at www.oldstatehealth.com . 100% EGG by Gold Standard. You get 24 gms of protein , 4 carbs, and 120 cal. per scoop plus your milk. About 200 cal in total. It mixes easily by hand or shake or blender. It is about $24.00 for 2lbs plus shipping about $4.00. I use it for at least one meal breakfast or lunch and feel very satisfied or if I am having a sweet attack I will make a 1/2 shake and that will satisfy that need. I have stablized my BG from the 300's to within normal limits along with 30 units of Lantus at night, in les than 3 months. I love the stuff. The whey protein can be found at WalMart. They have a couple different kinds but higher in carbs and not as good. Good Luck. If I can be of any more help let me know.
