Oh man....

Posted on April 2, 2010 at 7:02pm 1 Comment

In a bit of a money crunch right now and can't afford to get the 200 Accu-Chek Aviva strips I need. I have about 30 left, so that will last me a few days, but after that I don't know what I'm gonna do. If anyone can help I will PM my address.

Crap

Posted on March 12, 2010 at 8:43am 2 Comments

Well, my Medicaid has been switched to Family Planning, which covers none of my supplies. Apparently I can't get it back until I'm 21, since they will only base my eligibility on my income instead of who I'm living with. Oh well, back to getting my insulin from the endo and buying my strips and needles for the time being :/ Good thing I refilled my insulin right before this happened!

One of those Days

Posted on August 11, 2009 at 10:23am 5 Comments

You ever have those days where your meter tells you you're fine and you feel like total crap? Today was one of those for me, and I ended up having to leave work early because I almost passed out in the sun when I had just tested and was supposedly at 117. I got up to get back to work and very suddenly I got VERY lightheaded. For a few seconds literally all I could see was a purple-ish haze. It was enough to freak me out a little, so I told my boss, and they recommended I go home and relax, so… Continue

FINALLY

Posted on June 12, 2009 at 9:48pm 5 Comments

I got mail today that says I'm eligible for Medicaid! In a week or two I should have a card and I will finally be able to afford my necessities! It took them long enough LOL.

Working Again

Posted on May 24, 2009 at 3:59pm 5 Comments

Finally, after a few months of having no money of my own, I am working again at a place where I've been before and have a good reputation. My family (mostly my mother, grandmother, and aunt) seem to think that I won't be able to handle the outside work while maintaining good glucose control. So far I have had a few highs during the first week, but I'm still getting used to the new routine. I think this week should hopefully turn out a little better. Meanwhile, my Medicaid STILL hasn't started… Continue

You considering participating in any clinical trials? I've seen amazing things happen with type 1s who are still in their honeymoon phase. Stem cells, vaccines, etc. Seen many stories of people who are completely cured. Especially if you've still got some of your beta cells. :)

Happy Birthday D! Spend your anniversary opening lots of presents- cuz the first year with the D might just be the toughest. :)

Sending balloons your way now. Hope you get them in time!

omg I really enjoyed the last Star Trek movie. I know there were a lot of issues with contingencies and stuff (I'm a "Next Generation" fan) but I thought Chris Pane did a phenominal job of acting. I don't have it on Blu Ray but I do have the special edition! haha.

Just got approved for a CGM- which is wicked exciting. I'm on shots still, so knowing what BG I'm at constantly will be a big improvement to my life! No more finger pricks! Yes! I can't WAIT to get it in the mail.
