Kudos to Manny and the gang who built and keep this site alive and beautiful.

I am a kidney transplant patient on Prograf, a transplant med that does a great job preventing organ rejection but has the side effect of inducing diabetes. My fasting blood sugar ranges between 100-110. My dad is sadly is an advanced stage diabetic but somehow puts a smile on his condition.

I look forward to being part of this community!

I see you have had a transplant, but conclude it was not from diabetic kidney disease since you got the db as a side effect from the drug. Were you ever on dialysis? Was yours from a living donor? Since I had ovarian cancer 18 months ago, I could not be put on the active transplant list until I'd be cancer free for two years. But I did have the complete evaluation so I could accrue time. It was quite the deal.

Running has definitely helped me physically. It may not have slowed my diabetes progression but it has had many other positive effects on my life. I would say that running is definitely keeping me healthy for the long term and hopefully helping to push off many of the complications that come with diabetes.

Hey Oceanfever. I see you are in San Francisco. I don't get to travel as much as I used to but I love San Fran! It is a beautiful city. I keep hoping that my company will buy a facility there so I can transfer. We were out there last October and I went for some early morning runs down by the piers. Simply amazing there! Plus I am a Raiders fan so it is always fun to go across the bay and check out all of the crazy Raider fans.
