Reminder! Remember to wash those fingers before testing. If you get an unexplainable high, retest before acting. I tested before my supper bolus and it read 18.9 mmol. Panic, panic, then remembered that I didn't wash my hands. I retested at 7.3. Thankfully I realized that I must have had "contaminated" fingers!!!

brokenpole said… Hello Carol ; finally got to read your profile !! 50 years living with diabetes !!! We were in London 2 weeks ago and TuD.org friend Bikette arranged with Banting House to have a private tour ...how cool was that ( on a hot day , never the less ) ...she has posted on TuD some nice pix, incl. in great detail her experience of Banting House visit and the story of Dr.Fred Banting ...would have been nice to meet you as well:)

Linda G said… Well they don't exactly stop us at the door and ask us what type we are - the clinic is for all types of diabetes. You are probably attending the same general support place under a different or older set of offices, staff, etc. The expansion out on Platt's Lane is fairly new having only spawned off the main group at St. Joe's about 5 years ago, I think.
That St. Joe's diabetic support is the same one I'm talking about but they have offices in the St. Joe's Health Centre on Platt's Lane just past that narrow underpass. I've been going there for years for dental work but now I also go to see my dietician and Dr. Stewart Harris who heads up the whole program for St.Joes.
Are you sure you're from London... JK!
Knowing where Angelo's is has to be the quintessential "Test for Londoner Status" if we were ever needing some sort of password or identifier! If you don't know about Angelo's - you don't come from London! Every town has stuff like that. At least YOUR Angelo's got to reopen. Mine (at Baseline East near Adelaide) is... choke... gone.
I bet you attend Dr. Harris' Diabetes Support clinic up on Platt's Lane at the health centre there - I think that's where most of 'us' seem to congregate lately - and I'm getting a lot of good support from some of the people there. You?
Nice ta meetcha!
Hi Carol
Just noticed you're from London too. I live in the south of Old South - Commissioners area of London town and share your observations about shortage of docs here in town. What amazes me is our 'world famous' medical centre treats people from everywhere ELSE before Londoners. People I know end up heading to KW and Mississauga and across the St. Clair river for treatment since the lines here at home are sooooo long.
Anyway, just my 2 'scents' and worth everything you psid! I'm just trying to get through this tax season (my job) but wanted to reach out and say Welcome to TuD.
