Hi, Painter- I do use Lantus (usually between 10-12 units) sometimes I drop overnite 30-40 points and sometimes I go up 40-50 points. Maybe you should lower your dose if you tend to drop so much. Every body reacts differently to any insulin on any given day. Also, log what
you eat for your last meal at night for a few days, because I'm sure you know fats can raise
your BG hours after you eat. You really have to play with your doses. When do you take your Lantus ? Some people take it in the morning and some at night, you might have to adjust your time of dosage. Check out the group Lantus and you can start a discussion & get more input.

Welcome ,Painter ! I am also a T-1. I was Dx'ed at age 55 and have had D for 11 years. I also take shots ( Lantus & Humalog .) There are groups for people taking shots and using
Lantus and other insulins, also retired diabetics. It is a very informative and friendly site. I would like to be your friend.
