Anyone taking Actos?

When I eat right (salads, low carb, wide variety, avoid certain foods that I know cause spikes), my blood glucose bounces like a ball between way high (as in over 200) and way low (as in 60s). I stopped testing because it was so damn depressing. I work so hard to watch what I eat and it just bounces all over the place. Worked to narrow down the foods that cause spikes (potatoes, sweet tea, etc) and then eliminate or cut back on them (I live in the South. Sweet tea is a religious… Continue

One year since diagnosis. I was doing well after the initial freaking but this summer was so chaotic, I fell off the diet and care wagons. I am trying to get back into a routine.

Why the hypos?

I have a question. Or two.

I was officially diagnosed with pre-diabetes in Jan this year. I've heard the "you're insulin resistant" and "you're glucose intolerant" for a while now but the docs never seemed to be concerned so neither was I. I researched it once but didn't find much. I have other disabilities that demanded more attention. And I've always felt that diabetes was going to happen no matter what I did. My great-grandfather, grandmother, mother, aunt, and both brothers… Continue

The dog is Mike. He's 1.5yrs and is a Rottweiler/German Shepherd mix. I was holding his attention for the photo by having a piece of apple on my knee. He loves fruit! Mike is my service dog in training. He has his own website:
http://mike.holyroller.org

We also have Joella, 9yr Rottie who is my retired SD; PopCorn, 11+ yr old Foxhound; and Sam, 3 yr old Catahoula (mix?). Then there's Sass and Annie, the cats.
