Peter replied to jeremiahtren's discussion 'u500' in the group U500 Insulin
"Hi, I have been on U500 for about 3 years now. My day time basal is 2.0 per hour (which equals to 10 units of U100 insulin 2.0 x 5) and night time is 1.5 units per hour. I find that U500 is very slow in getting blood sugars down once you are high or…"

Peter replied to Jgos's discussion 'Pod Failures ???' in the group OmniPod Users

Hi Peter. I saw you are/were usninng the freestyle navigator cgms. I am considering one, but no insurance, so I'll have to pay for it out of pocket. for that reason, I want to be sure of getting one that will work well. What do you think of the navigator?. is it possible to cheat the timer on it and use/reuse the sensor more than 5 days?. any feed back would be helpful and appreciated

I also read your coments on the dysfunctional med. system discussion and I am sorry about what happened to your mother.
It is so exhausting to be an advocate, either for yourself or someone else. My mother was recently helicoptered to Minneapolis from central Minnesota for emphysema/heart failure and the neglected to send any records along. The cardiologist came into the room and said "why are you here"? and I thought he was just kidding or else trying to rate her cognitive state. He truly didn't know why she was there and I had to fill him in. Unbelievable.
Then there was the time that I had day surgery and while in recovery took my bg and it was 430. I asked the nurse to hand me my bag so I could take some insulin and she replied, "oh no you don't - no outside drugs allowed on the premises"..............
Sorry for blabbing - just needed to vent.

Just read your posts to the Dysfunctional System Disussion and wanted to say Bravo! I, too, have a repertoire of horror stories and fear going to the doctor, always! I will say that for the first time in my 57 years, I have a dentist I love. But it's the luck of the draw and I just got lucky on that one!.....Take care.....Judith in Portland
