Stemwinder said… Hi ,
You may have noticed TuD hanging around the site. It's his 6th birthday this month, and his big international family of people with diabetes is growing. Our 6th birthday fundraising campaign is on! Every dollar you donate allows TuDiabetes to reach 6 people touched by diabetes, giving them the opportunity to not be alone!
Please consider making a donation, as well as asking your friends and family to give what they can. TuD's birthday party will keep getting more guests as we raise more donations (see top of the home page). Let's help keep our family thriving and growing! Please share this message. Thanks!
Lois said… Thank you for asking me to be your friend. Sorry it took so long to accept as I don't turn the computer on every day and have been overwhelmed with health problems. Some of them are actually not related to the big D!
Just one question ... how did you find out about me? Just curious since I am not too active of late.

Stemwinder said… Thanks for the friend invite. Some folks say our friends are our greatest assets. If that's the case I feel like a rich man. Proud to be your friend.

brokenpole said… Welcome to the family! On this forum you will learn so much. Most of all you will learn that you are not alone. Everyone here is supportive and will provide answers to your questions. Search the site for answers. Read the discussions and blogs for information. There are videos to help you understand diabetes and its treatment. Most of all there is family to talk to and even to vent to, if needed. Welcome home.

Mr. Peachy said… RBA, Welcome to Tudiabetes. I applaud the efforts that you are undertaking for your son. There is a lot of knowledge available. I recommend a couple of really helpful books. 1: The Diabetes Improvement Program" by Patrick Quillin and 2: "Practical Paleo" by Diane Sanfillipo What you will learn from those two books is nothing short of amazing (to me anyway). With some minor adjustments to our diet and lifestyle, not only can he control his diabetes, he can reverse it. I'm 61 and was diagnosed in 2004. In 2008, my "need" for meds had increased and I was facing the prospect of injecting insulin. My motivation was strong. I was exercising, eating "healthy", but wasn't getting the results I wanted. I was desperate. I read many books and sought information from many websites. I slowly began to realize that eating more natural foods, fewer man made processed foods, and taking a few well chosen natural supplements, along with moderate daily exercise succeeded in bringing my blood sugar down far more effectively than the medication I was on. It was so effective, in fact, that I stopped taking medication altogether in the latter part of that year. Knowledge truly is power. Type two diabetes is a plague on our society that can be minimized, if not eliminated altogether, with education and diligence. My screen name, Mr. Peachy, comes from a time where I had recently overcome depression. I studied all sorts of alternative health information. I came to this simple conclusion: "You can never know too much when it comes to your health". It's true.
